There is some evidence of progress with the quality of yoof coming through (see John Stone, Digger) which if they maintain the level of performance should either bring in good sums of cash to balance teh books or improve the level of performance so that we escape the bottom four being the height of our ambition. You can also say that the attempt by Keef to have a better squad is working in some departmets, but is miles off in others. Off the field there has been little progress. In fact I'd say that we are going backwards. The sole aim is to break even, I accept and understand that but this equates to reverting to the tired "punching above our weight" crap when we lose. There is no innovation off the field and for thsi there is one man to blamew who has had seven years plus to extend teh ownership structure of the club to bring not only new money but also fresh ideas and energy.
1. We made a profit 2. Two players are now playing for Premier League clubs for a fee of about £1.5 million. 3. We've got an England U19 right back who's been brought through our Academy and rated at over £2 million. 4. We've got a Welsh International in the top 5/6 goal scorers in the league. 5. We've got an English midfielder, signed for nowt, who is the top assist maker in the league. 6. We've got a core group of players that can compete with any side in this league. 7. We've got that core group on a lower wage bill than 90% of the sides around. 8. We've got that core group for a combined fee of about £500k (Wiseman, Done & McNulty - every other laiker was a freebie) 9. We've reached 19th using only our own players - no loans at all. Development. 10. We only kicked on in November last year. Before then we'd drawn 9 on the bounce. 11. We've got players ready to come back from injury that are hugely important to us - we've got the same points as last season without them, proving we've a half decent squad.
1. We made a profit. Only via number two, but fair enough 2. Two players are now playing for Premier League clubs for a fee of about £1.5 million. Does that really help us except for 1? 3. We've got an England U19 right back who's been brought through our Academy and rated at over £2 million. AGreed, excllent prospect 4. We've got a Welsh International in the top 5/6 goal scorers in the league. Jan. 5. We've got an English midfielder, signed for nowt, who is the top assist maker in the league. Jan? 6. We've got a core group of players that can compete with any side in this league. When setup properly, agree. 7. We've got that core group on a lower wage bill than 90% of the sides around. Yes 8. We've got that core group for a combined fee of about £500k (Wiseman, Done & McNulty - every other laiker was a freebie) Ironically, those we have paid money for with teh possible excpetion of McNulty are not that good. 9. We've reached 19th using only our own players - no loans at all. Development. Yet he's spent all week trying to get players in, culminating in saying he wants to help Forest get Tudgay fit. 10. We only kicked on in November last year. Before then we'd drawn 9 on the bounce. Not sure how this is a positive. 11. We've got players ready to come back from injury that are hugely important to us - we've got the same points as last season without them, proving we've a half decent squad. JOB, Davies and Cranie will improve us. Rest jury is out.
We're still here. And we will occasionally deign that the poor may enter Oakwell. That's what I take from Don Rowing's quotes anyroad. It's probably me though.
9. Through necessity only. He's not said he wants to help Forest, he said in the interview that Tudgay was on his list but has just had a double hernia op. That doesn't smack me as a comment you'd make if you were signing him tomorrow. But then you might have to take what you can get in our situation. 10. That we're in a comparative place this year with injured players out. 11. I think Silva will give us a little bit extra, Mido's something for fowk to get excited abart too. No bad thing.
Refuse to accept the pricing structure is wrong again. Too expensive for u18s on the turnstile Not done anything to improve the match day expirence for the rank and file Struggle to advertise anything outside of social media
As a team we have had to start from drawing board again... We are like for like last season, I think any basis for improvement should be made from Jan onwards... thats when we were dog *****, Keith will admit that. Lets hope Jan-May is better than last few seasons. The only one I recall being any good was Simon Daveys reign when we stayed up by skin of our team at the expense of Dirdy Leeds!! Off the field the progress is ok in one place making a profit. But as Keith says the club doesnt endeavour enough and should speculate to accumulate this in this,
