How the fook does anyone know what all the other clubs budgets are? We don't even know what ours is so how is it possible to compare whether our own is competitive in comparison?!?

I know a reasoned guess can always be done but..... no one will reveal there's in a real world. I don't know if this line of thinking makes me feel better or worse like?!?

I suppose given the salary cap it's possible to gave an educated guess based on attendances but other than that you're right.

Exactly. The club must be laughing it socks off at all the financial speculation which goes on on here.

In the Championship there are players on Premiership wages which raises the bar somewhat. In league one the wages are much lower.

Here are some figures from the PFA. They are from 2009-10 but they give a good idea of the average wage differentials between the leagues.

    Premier £1,162,350
    Championship £211,060
    League 1 £73,000
    League 2 £38,844.

By my maths League one players on average earn about 35% of Championship wages.

I hope this puts things into perspective a little.

On those figures we can surely be competitive?

The figures will be a higher now but the differentials I should imagine will be similar. There are a lot of players moving on who are have been on Championship wages. We should be able to attract quality League one players.

I think we should forget what Sour Grapes Hassell has said. The players were probably offered good wages by League One standards. It will be interesting to see how many of the senior pros we let go are going to Championship Clubs. They are in for a big surprise at the wages they will be offered in League One.

Here are some figures from Scotland

Here some stuff I lifted off another web site.

"The figures for the 12 clubs who were in the SPL in 2011-12 make for curious reading - as stated above, this is the average wage for a first-team squad member. For simplicity, I've stated the weekly wage here, rather than the annual salary. I've also put, in brackets, that club's figure in Sportingintelligence's survey from a year ago.

    1. Celtic £21,253 (£20.487)
    2. Rangers £11,501* (£15,798)
    3. Hearts £5,305 (£6,310)
    4. Aberdeen £2,906 (£3,002)
    5. Hibernian £2,804 (£3,322)
    6. Dundee United £2,503 (£2,513)
    7. Motherwell £2,296 (£2,319)
    8. Kilmarnock £2,274 (£2,404)
    9. St. Mirren £2,007 (£2,046)
    10. St. Johnstone £1,920 (£1,960)
    11. Dunfermline £989
    12. Inverness £954 (£1,222)

With only 2 exceptions the wages in Scotland were less than in the Championship so the people who are off the opinion that JOB will be on his way back to Scotland may be incorrect.
