Right. The thinner lad with hair who rang on the pitch, ran up our gangway in the west stand when he tried to escape. Now the bloke in front of us in row D grabbed him which stopped him getting away. Now it depends how u look at it, he stopped him escaping but it ended up in my 71 year old dad getting some digs off the bloke who rang on the pitch. Basically when the viglianty grabbed him he fell on me and my dad. He was swinging punches, caught my dad. One steward jumped on his back on top of my dad until I pushed the streaker back towards the steward and pulled my dad into the foot well.

It was an unfortunate state of affairs and my dad is not bothered about that part. The bit Im bothered about is the 1 steward was really struggling with the bloke and the others stood and watched. I was ffing and blinding for the others to come and help but they all just watched. What's the crack with that. It ended up with the one steward rolling through the crowd with loads of people getting a piece of the action. Exciting but why didn't they react, just stood and watched.

It's an absolute disgrace that two ***** can run on the pitch and do what they want while the stewards just stand and watch. I mean how long were they on! One of em even ran in the west stand, got bored, ran back on the pitch and gave himself up to the nearest watching steward.

Why do we show ourselfs up as a club on the big occasions. These two minutes from the pricks make it on the highlights on SSN. I bet they feel really pleased with themselves while not attending another game until we draw another big club. Absoulte SCUM of the highest order.

    Our Stewards Were Shocking

Standing around doing nothing and waiting for the fans to leave the pitch when they decided themselves they had been on long enough. What about the fan who on the way off cuddled the steward down between the ponte and west stand and the steward cuddled the fan back.

Blimey, is yer Fatha oreyt Papa?? Didn't know it was you he came and sat near when trying to make his escape. Just shows the mentality of the idiot thinking he could blend into the crowd again?

You never mentioned owt last night mate after the game? Hope the old boy is oreyt?

Went into Bramahs after the game and they showed the numpties on Sky Sports News? Why did they do this? We've all on to get our goals shown most weeks, yet they show Laurel & Hardy time and time again!?

I cannot believe they were allowed to run around on the grass for so long and were not at least caught the minute they stepped off the pitch.

not sticking up for stewards BUT

i am pretty sure they have orders to contain the rest of the crowd rather than everyone go chasing 1 or 2 people. It could have ended up a lot worse if even more had followed them on.

They really want to make an example of these 3 that they caught and throw the book at them - might make people think twice then.

That makes sense but they should not have been allowed to run into the crowd.

There's a steward near us who cannot possibly be physically capable of running or dealing with that kind of incident.

not so long ago people were moaning abouot the neanderthals working for doyle security doing the stewarding.

    Cant have everything though.

The one at the bottom of the ponty - everytime the fans stand up and start giving it some you can see the fear in his face hoping something doesnt happen. Most of them seem to be just there to stahnd in a hi vis jacket for a couple of hours and collect a paycheck - not actually thinking about having to manage the fans. Liek those folk that sign up to the army 'for the training and job' then dont want to go to war.

as bad as those cheering when they put the ball in the net.

Had they got a tirade of abuse from the fans there and then I am sure their confidence would have wilted and they would have hot tailed it right back to the stands - instead they got egged on.

RE: Scum of the highest order?

Sorry. Total utter scum. Made my blood boil to have to watch the morons. Whole bunch of them set on a steward who was trying to stop them getting into the commentators' box at the end as well. They were mates of the ones on the pitch.

Every single person who laughed and cheered them can stay away from Oakwell forever as far as I'm concerned. Tossers.

I must be just behind you

I would have got involved if the t**t in the England shirt who ran across, looked like being more of a handful, but as you say the stewards are useless.

its okay saying that the stewars have orders to contain the rest of the fans, but surely they have enough at the ground to deal with situations if they arise. As it is they had brought in extra from another company......... Get a proper firm in to do the job and get rid of the numptys who have'nt got any interest in doing the job, and are just there to collect their pay and watch the game for free!!!!!!!

It's always the same...... i could understand it if there were loads of em on the pitch, as its possibly safer to let them on, rather try and keep them in the stand. but it seems that as if its only one or two coming on, none of the stewards seem bothered....

Having said that, Why bother putting a load of police and stewards in front of the manure fans, and not do the same in front of the ponty, when everybody knows 99% of the time, thats whre the numptys usually appear from!!

And what those two idiots have also done is

take some of the pressure off the Man Ure fans behavior and criminal activities.... Press stories lump both together and no doubt will allow the FA to punish both clubs with equal severity.

Yes, I've noticed that the BBC reporting doesn't distinguish which fans were throwing objects onto the pitch and at police/stewards. It's not clear where in the stadium the majority of the trouble was.

Seems Mark Robins was far from impressed with the stewards aswell, when the camera cuts to him as the numpties parade around the pitch he looks pist off and shouts to another steward (i think??):

"Hey! Hey! What's happening here? Who's let them on?"

Not impressed at all. He was far from happy in the post match interview aswell.
