I thought racism was an intentional act to discriminate against someone because of the colour of their skin.
Is this just another attempt to undermine the boys in blue?

I guess it's like institutionalised racism.

People can be racist and not realise they are doing so because it's so ingrained into who they are.

Words and action are so PC these days, that a person may make an innocent comment that to the powers that be is deemed to be racist. That could be unwitting racism could it not. Racism seems to be one of those crimes that can be committed with a complete lack of intent to commit such an offence.

Depends why you hit the black guy.

I heard loads of situations when people just come out and say something and don't actually realise that what they are saying is racist becausethey've said such things for so long or they've been brought up in that way - it doesn't mean it isn't racist simply because they didn't think it was.

I still don't see how racism can be "Unwitting", surely racism is a deliberate act of discrimination. As was proved with "institutionalized racism" around the Stephen Lawrence case.

See my other posting - it doesn't have to be deliberate to be racist

She's just used dated un PC lingo to discribe him. It's unwitting maybe but not racism because as I keep saying.... Racism is a deliberate act of discrimination.

    To be fair.

Racism is intentional discrimination against someone because of their race not their colour.

Which is why "Bright" Red was perfectly correct when he described his brother as a "racist bigot" because of his attack on the Irish.
