1. We will re-double our efforts. How can you re-double something that hasn't been doubled in the first instance? If what we have delivered so far has been 'double effort' then we really are screwed. 2. We lacked experience in key areas at times. Simon, are you suggesting a defence including Hassell, Foster and Moore is experienced? Are you suggesting an attack of Hume, Macken on has sub, International Bogdanovic and KO a player you have deemed good enough to give 80 games to is lacking experience? Lacking in quality more like - but that would then bring the 'judge me on my players' statement into question wouldnt it. 3. Losing two games at home is an ebarrassment. Thats the problem Simon, it isn't anymore. Its expected. And all the pre-seaon hype you drummed up with woolley statements about being unbeaten in x amount of games is completely worthless - which it was in essence when you were saying it. Teams like Coventry and Preston look at the fixtures and see an away trip to Barnsley has a potential 3 points and at a minimum a point. These teams see it has a disappointment if they dont pick something up at Oakwell - and you have created that. 4. Your support is vital. Your inability to pick a team, play to tactics that can win a game and buy players that are needed in critical positions is vital, but it doesnt happen. Making rash undeliverable statements about dropping under performing players when we dont have the sqaud to do it is already grating at me. We have sold a record number of season tickets for a 10 year period. If thats not backing of BFC in this current financial climate then I dont know what is. Asking fans to give you as the manager their supprt is asking me and a majority to go a step to far. After a promising start to this seasons interviews from Davey he has resulted in soft excuses with different words that are answers to the same problems we've had for 3 years.
Or if we weren't all so irate 1. We will re-double our efforts. People say this in all walks of life, particularly sport and politics. I believe it was Tony Blair who made the phrase popular. It's a bit wanky, but it just means they will try harder. I can't see any need to get angry at someone saying they're going to work harder. 2. We lacked experience in key areas at times. We did. Luke Potter and Jacob Butterfield lack experience. I would say left full back and central midfield are key areas. I think there's been a swell of opinion on here over the last couple of years that Davey should give youth more of a chance. It's hardly fair to throw it back in his face when he does. 3. Losing two games at home is an embarrassment. It is. I'm glad our manager feels the same way as the fans and is hurt by those two poor performances. If he didn't care and didn't see it as a problem then we really would be in trouble. 4. Your support is vital. It is. Without it there wouldn't be a club. I see no harm in appealing to the fans even if when we're not doing very well. Actually, especially when we're not doing very well. When everything is rosy the support takes care of itself. The performances in the last two games have been crap. That is a given. But that doesn't mean we should pick at every single thing the manager says in order to bring him down. I realise it's not just you Dan. Far from it, it's almost every post on here. I just think it's pointless. It achieves nothing other than causing an even greater rift between the club and the fans.
RE: Or if we weren't all so irate 1. We will re-double our efforts. I think everyone in any profession can work harder. My issue is Davey is suggest the players have already doubled their efforts and will have to double those as well. We must have a pretty work shy bunch if thats the case. Its Davey's job to get the most out of players and he's suggesting he isn't. 2. We lacked experience in key areas at times. Every single statement Davey has said from his post match comments and right up to this one has said we lost the game in both penalty areas. To suggest we lost it through lack of experience is not right. We lost it due to lack of quality and individual mistakes from senior experienced pros. 3. Losing two games at home is an embarrassment. Its gone past embarrassment for me Im afraid. Im almost at the point of not wanting to go to the games and any right to expect a win is none existent - hope for a win is dwindling quickly. This is not a new experience under Davey - and if he is embarrassed about the last 2 games at home then he should feel embarrassed at the last 3 years in charge. He has to look at himself. Where does his personal pride come from? Where does his job satisfaction come from, its not on the pitch thats for sure. 4. Your support is vital. I dont think anyone could question any Barnsley fans support for the club. We are a small knit community that for many their lives revolve around the football club. If Simon Davey gave us the respect we deserve instead of trying to pull the wool over our eyes and falsifying information to get round an issue then he has the no right to ask us to back him. Its now at the point where I won't back him (but I will the players) no matter how long he is in the job. He's had long enough to improve on all aspects on football management - I thought he had started to improve his interviewing technique - but this one just shows he's gone back to the norm with weak exuses and statements that add up to nothing.
