I’ve got 8 knackered alloys, 4 with tyres still on. Do I need to separate them to dispose of them? I think the local tip takes 4 tyres at a time, which is fine as that’s what I have, but do they need to be just the tyres without the alloys and will they take the alloys separately? Would the scrap collector take them?
Scrap collector? If it's like the scrap collectors near me they'll weigh the alloy in and dump the tyres in a country lane.
Kwik Fit will take them off you. They might charge, but I'd ring them and ask first. When we moved in our house, we had 6 old wheels and tires in our shed. The local recycling centre couldn't take them, but advised we try Kwik Fit. I took them there and the bloke was more than happy to take them from us. He said it was company policy to charge, but he didn't charge us as he said he'd rather we tried to recycle them rather than fly tip.
Could you not cut the rubber off with a hacksaw? Take the tyre to the tip then leave the metal for the Scrapman
Build a bandwagon, another couple of wins like the last few days and the BFC one will need more space on it.
