If like there in the French game there is a penalty review but play has continued and a goal is scored at the other end. Then the review says penalty at the other end. Would the goal stand?
It's a penalty. It happened in a game between Oxford and someone else. Penalty turned down, the other team went down the other end and scored, and then the ref changed his mind, and awarded the penalty. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/...argument-says-bradford-city-boss-gary-bowyer/ Edit: I knew it was something similar to what I had said!
Thanks for that info. I’m at odds to make my mind up whether I agree with that or not. All a new concept in the game
Absurd system, if it takes long enough to decide that a goal is scored in the meantime, it's not fit for purpose.
Now Andy really was there any need for that? You know I am still hurting from Scotland’s elimination from the tournament. You can be so hurtful at times.
Tbf it should never have gone to VAR it was an absolute stone wall pen and that idiot didn’t give it awful refereeing
Similar incident happened in the La Liga match between Sevilla and R Madrid this season. Incident in the Madrid penalty box wasn’t spotted/given by the ref, Madrid swiftly counter attacked and won a penalty at the other end which the referee awarded. VAR had a word which resulted in Sevilla being awarded the penalty and Real being denied. All happened in a deserted Madrid training stadium, in front of a partisan Bernabeu would have been interesting. One of the factors that cost Real the title this season and Zidane his job.
This happened in a premier league game involving Bournemouth in 2019-20 season. Cant remember who opponents were, but Bournemouth scored a perfectly good goal to make it 1-1, then about a minute later play was stopped and was rolled back to a penalty which had deemed to have been conceded before the goal, so the Bournemouth goal was struck off as that part of the game was voided. The other team scored and it was 2-0!
