I use First Direct. Took a loan recently, they offered me a certain repayment a month, didn't tell me what the interest rate was immediately - had to ask - but they told me they were going to charge me 10.8%! I told them that I'd been looking at 6.4% at Northern Rock, so they matched it immediately. Made quite a saving.

Just think of a figure and get them to sharpen their pencil. It surprising what you can get. I should have said 5% lol

    or

how much do you need to borrow?

Look for a credit card that does a low rate for life of balance (4-5%) and get it whacked on there. You will need to spend on another and transfer it to them.
