Re-runs start tonight on BBC 4 if anyone's interested. Way before my time but watched an old episode with my dad once about avoiding the football scores and loved it
I've got the complete series on DVD. Absolutely brilliant. From the same talented people that gave us Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Porridge.
BOXXXX SETTT!! cheap as chips on ebay, some of the original ones have been lost though sadly. Always thought that could have been brought back with the boys in old age still larking about!
thats the one that got me into it too. I'm 27 so it's way before my time too but my Mrs got me the box set a couple of christmasses ago. Worth every penny (of her hard earned dollar)
Could never happen though, because James Bolam and Rodney Bewes can't stand each other. Interesting fact alert (I'm sure you're already aware of this Mr C), but James Bolam used to share a flat with a singer called Mark Feld in the 60s. After various attempts to break into the pop market, Feld changed his first name to Marc and his second name to Bolam. Bolam became Bowland and Bowlan, before he settled on Marc Bolan. I understand that James Bolam wasn't to happy about this, the miserable sod.
Yes, I know they don't get on, I didn't want to put a downer on the thread! Marc & Terry is just begging for a tv wind up!!
My favourite episode is when Bob gets done for drink driving and Terry gives him a blood sample. Or when they cycle to Berwick.
i got em all on dvd, classic telly film they did was ace too, actually putting some on my tablet for my jollies next week
allegedly they once had a big bust up but it's not clear that they hate each other. What is true is that the Likely Lads (brilliant as it was, by the way) holds no affection for JB and he will not discuss it on TV, newspapers or magazines (he has walked out on occasion and halted interviews). Would be great to see them as 60-somethings to see how things panned out, but it ain't gonna happen - not with those 2 anyway !
By the way ...... small snippet of useless information; the theme tune, sung by Highly Likely, is always my answer when somebody asks "What is your favourite ever record?" Oh what happened to you, whatever happened to me what became of the people, we used to be tomorrows almost over, today went by so fast it's the only thing to look forward to, the past There was a time when time didn't matter only the time of day and living was living in hope which would never pass away Well it was a Monday morning, when weekend was done fear was the fear of being what we had become Oh what happened to you, whatever happened to me what became of the people, we used to be tomorrows almost over, today went by so fast it's the only thing to look forward to, the past You say i'm a fool in a fools paradise let my life slip away waiting with my head in the clouds, lookin for a sunny day never go back you tell me, it's the worst thing you can do but i must go there till i find out where, it is i'm going to Oh what happened to you, whatever happened to me what became of the people we used to be tomorrows almost over, today went by so fast it's the only thing to look forward to, the past Oh what happened to you, whatever happened to me what became of the people, we used to be Oh what happened to you, whatever happened to me what became of the people.
bolam also supposed to have blocked repeats been aired for a while, which upset others with the royalties
The film was ok I liked the bit when they were playing Bridge and Terry goes out for a slash and Thelma says "That's the first time I've known what he's got in his hand all night." Classic.
