You wouldn't wish that upon anybody or their family.

I think it is disgusting and shows just how low and cowardly some sections of society are. I really like Ian Wright but like you say you wouldn't wish it on anybody. I hope they catch and punish the ****-houses as quickly as possible.

His wife and kids were held at knife-point while some scroats robbed their house. Brave of them considering Wrighty was in Brazil.

First thing I read just said that Ian Wright left Brazil after his wife and kids were robbed at knife-point. My initial thought was that they had been out there with him until I read the article!
    Badly worded headline.
Guessing they knew it was his place, seems to happen a lot with footballers as people know they are away.

Problem is with things like this, the sentences dished out when the culprits are caught never seem to be in proportion with the effects their actions have left on their victims. That poor woman and her kids, although hopefully the kids are too young to understand it and be badly affected by it, are going to be in fear every time they're left alone or when the doorbell goes. It is going to change their lives and not for the better. Prisons are built for people like these thugs and the only way to deter other potential purveyors of this kind of crime is to dish out longer sentences that are actually served.

I think we had a discussion along these lines on here a few months ago, but we seem to lock the wrong people up in this country and then complain when the prisons are overcrowded, at which point we start putting dangerous people back on the streets. Prisons should be for people who affect the safety of society and nobody else, and they should be serving longer sentences. Violent criminals, sex offenders, people who break into residential houses, that kind of thing. There should then be more stringent, and properly supervised, community sentences and financial penalties for other criminals, like MPs who fiddle their expenses and people who don't pay their TV license. I certainly didn't feel any safer when Eric Illsley was in jail. I would much rather he put something back into society to pay for the money he basically stole. But if these thugs that terrorised Ian Wright's family are caught, no length of prison sentence would be too long as far as I am concerned. That could have been my wife and kids or yours.

He's the first to admit that he made some stupid decisions as a kid but I fail to see how that is relevant to what happened to his wife and children.

If you really think that he and his family deserved what happened then you're way off the mark. He wasn't perfect as a youth, who is, but as far as I am aware he never burgled anybody and he never held a woman and her children at knife point. I simply cannot see your logic.

Let's hope you are never a victim of crime

I fail to see how convicted criminals can get any sympathy if they subsequently become victims.
