The really important stuff starts on Saturday and we are still lacking squad wise, hope ‘somebody’ gets their fingers out and loosens the purse strings soon

We are probably a right back and centre forward short as it stands.

Another midfielder that can tackle wouldn't go amiss. Phillips, Russell and DKD are all good players, but they all excel when playing just behind the forwards and they're not going to protect the defence. Connell is our only experienced player who can do this and there's a question mark over his fitness.

I’d say we’re short of a right back, centre forward, ball winning midfielder and another centre half (assuming Lopata is leaving). Hopes of getting any of these in before Plymouth on Saturday are pretty slim.

Oh to have a Martin Cranie type again. Does Keogh still have his boots?

It's extremely important that we don't lose our first game, I'm happy with draw, extactic with a win. Over the moon for a clean sheet. I don't won't the rot to set in. O and no injuries.

2 right backs. We currently have zero.

1 centre back. Our defence from last season hasn't been worked on.

1 centre forward. Our 37 year old striker isn't going to be ever present.

Plus additional replacements if more leave.

My preseason optimism is fading. After 2 of the worst seasons defensively, we still haven't signed a CB. Why?! Must be the only club in England without a RB on the books, or even on loan. I thought we'd sign another winger and striker. Taking the fans for mugs again.

Surely a right back at least a loan coming in this week? Maybe that lad from Lincoln at centre half as well?

Lincoln fans on X seem to think there’s no way we’re getting him. Seems they really rate him and he’s still got 2 years contract left too I think. He’d cost a decent fee I imagine so won’t happen.

Minimum is a big CF and a RB. Surely can't start with MDG on the right his positional sense there, at Harrogate he was all over the place and largely missing!

You do realise that Plymouth are probably one of the favourites, it's the first game. And at their place to boot.
All the rest is true. But it won't define our season.
Whatever, I'll be there and hoping for a win.

I don’t think a narrow defeat and a decent performance would be bad at all.

I called it back in May that I didn’t think we would sign a centre back. With the amount of them that we already had under contract, plus a drop from 3 to 2 starting centre backs & the losses we made I couldn’t see a way in which we would bring new ones into the club.

Lopata looks like he is being frozen out, so I reckon we have four: Roberts, de Gevigney, Shepherd, and Earl.

Looks like de Gevigney will be expected to cover at right back. Except we don't have a right back so that's where he will be playing.

And Earl will be expected to cover at left back. Except Ogbeta is ineligible for the first game so that's where Earl will be playing. If he's fit, which he hasn't been.

First game of the season and it looks like we have 4 centre backs and all 4 will have to play, if they're fit, and the only defensive cover is Barratt who has made one league start. He may have to play though if Earl doesn't regain fitness. Not sure who would play left back.

I’m not sure I believe we are.

Maybe we are if someone will take one of ours off of us permanently & pay their full wage which I’d say’s pretty optimistic

I was told a few week's ago who does some sponsorship at the club it will only be frees and loans until someone is sold. He's been proven right so far if any of the position are to be filled by players involving a fee patience may be needed.
