Middlesbrough are set to bid £2m for Sheffield United midfielder Stephen Quinn. (The Sun)

Mark Beevers has snubbed a £2m move to Chelsea in order to stay with Sheffield Wednesday. (Daily Star)

He's better than both of them and so baring in mind what they are being at, he should be worth around six million.

If Howard were to go in the close season, 4 million would be the minimum. Personally i think Brian Howard will be playing for BarnsleyFC next season and hopefully for seasons to come. :)

    Agree with 4 million....

if other clubs are asking over the top money for their players then so should we. He shouldn't be given away on the cheap. It seems that PC is looking around at other clubs and seeing what they are wanting. Howard wont be going on the cheap l think PC has made that clear.

    Hate to point this out...

But all this guessing what Brian Howard is worth by comparing him to other players is pointless. Brian Howard is worth whatever offer we can't afford to refuse. End of.

If Chelsea got Beevers for 2million that would be a good buy for them

He has a big future I think

    Not fair

Gaz is trying to go straight as a full time soccer pundit and you just keep bringing him back to his comedic roots, reminding him and us that he was a comedy genius.

    Another factor

Is what another club is prepared to pay, not the transfer fee another player has commanded. As an example, if a club said the most it would pay for Howard on 31st August was £1.5m, we would have decide whether we can afford to turn the offer down, or not (as you've rightly pointed out). Come September 1st, his market value will be a small fraction of the price 24 hours earlier.

You forget the Chris Brunt factor.

Chris Brunt went for £5 million. Brian is a better player - apparently - so should be going for more money. That's how it works in deluded land.

    Ok then

We wouldn't miss Howard if he went. In fact, we might actually play some football.

Heads need to roll in academy..........

were just not producing simple as, and its not just been last four or five years, its last ten to fiveteen years, yet for some reason we employ the same staff and coaches that have been there since begining of academy. We need to have an ex-pro running academy for me, someone that no's what it takes to make the step up to 1st team, not old head teachers and school teachers.

Brian Howard is worth about 1.5 Million 2 Million . 3, 4 Million is way over the top.
He scores goals nfrom midfield half come from penalty spot. Which is still a good attribute to add to the team.
However 1.5/ 2 Million would be smashing business on our part.
Frees up funds for Davey to find a striker And boost our wage structure slightly.
