the owners of oakwell have appied to build some houses on the part of the car park and have said they will reinvest it in building a new west stand
Bearing in mind that we would struggle to fill a lift at the moment- what is the point spending money on the West stand- unless it was falling down and was an immediate danger. Any money should be spent in taking the team forward on the pitch in my opinion.
I agree to a certain extent... in that why, unless its falling down, do we need to do anything to the west stand.
However, money spent on adding to the team...to a certain degree yes, in wages. However, in this day and age, paying a fee for a player isn't necessary. There are so many free transfer prospects available at the moment...and we don't seem to be making the most of it.
Take Macclesfield. So much trouble, wanting players off the wage bill etc....and there was Parkin. Anything to get them off the wage bill.

No Chance Barnsley Football club do not own the ground or the Land Surrounding it. Patrick Cryne and the Council do. If part of Car Park is sold for Housing the money would have to be be reinvested back into the stadium. The football club will not get any of this money to buy players.
RE: No Chance when I heard today i was against the idea of selling the car park, but thinking about it, its going to be a great idea. Building the West stand shows again how ambitous the club is and is planning for the future, its not just short term. I never park in the club car park anyway, why pay when there's side streets for free!!??
RE: No Chance so you didnt go when we were in the premiership then if the club is ambitious then they would not concider losing some of the car park as we would need it if we can get back to the championship or the premiership
People will always find somewhere to park Barnsley have more car parking next to the stadium than any club in England. Parking on all four sides of the ground is not necessary. Ever been to Anfield, Old Trafford, Arsenal - Hillsborough even? Ever seen anyone other than officials, players and directors get a parking spot in any of their poxy little car-parks? Thought not. It's a sound idea to sell off a small portion, they're only talking the bottom third of each car park, which probably generates around £200 a week after wages.
