on this board. The last three games we've dropped points. In two of them incompatent refereeing has cost us and saturday was our own faults due to missed chances and individual errors in defence. Now lets keep it real.We have a team here who I've enjoyed watching every game I've seen. We're a lot stronger than last year and in a position to comfortably finish mid table/top ten.S.D's used the loan and transfer market to good effect and I'm sure he will continue to do so to maintain and improve our position.Players come and players go but from what I've seen S.D has an eye for good talent and I.m sure he has every angle covered. So lets enjoy the way things are going and lets give full support to the manager, players and the board and I'm sure the improvement will continue. A Happy New Year to you all.
Couldn't possibly agree more! When to boo players: - 1) When they are obviously not giving their all (e.g. Sheron) 2) When they obviously don't like the club (e.g. Rankin) 3) When they play for Sheffield Wednesday or Leeds If any of the booers can explain logically, politely and constructively what they think it will achieve, I'm listening......
Finally an opinion I can agree on. The argument on here is so polarised as if there is no position possible other than either justifying the booing of KO on Saturday or alternatively being of the opinion that booing your own players is always wrong. Rankin is an excellent example, sheepishly shuffling back to the club after his loan exploits at Blundell Park - totally unacceptable attitude, and right for fans to vocalise this. However what has KO done other than look to better himself, take a chance on cutting it at a Championship club rather than taking the easy option of staying at Cheltenham, and living in his newly purchased house with his wife/girlfriend as he had planned to, until our interest in him gave him a career dilemma. He's a kid. He's a kid whose head is down (literally - did you see him on the bench after he was substituted on Saturday?). What the hell do people think they will achieve by booing him??
RE: We should drive em out mate. Well judging by the repsonse to most of my posts I would win a bore war in days. Now where did I put that penguin?
A Kid or not a Kid? That is a good question but what does it have to do with booing. Does it mean it is OK to boo someone once they have got to a certain age? If so, why?
RE: Finally an opinion I can agree on. I've no problems at all with Rankin. We would have probably gone into League Two if it wasn't for his goal against Brentford and that would have made where we are today much harder to achieve. Him playing against us wasn't his fault, it was a dumb move by the manager (like Shez letting Ricketts play against Oldham the other day). He went to the bench and got in the managers face. So? That was him showing the manager that he can score goals given a chance etc. It wasn't him having a go at the fans. If it had, he would have done gestures to the away end.
Totally agree You'd think, with some of the posts on here, we were 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table. I think it's only Steve Foster out of our entire squad who hasn't been pilloried and vilified. Even then, there were a number of posters dead against his signing claiming he wasn't good enough (the fact he hadn't kicked a ball in anger for us never entered the equation !). I'm more than pleased with the progress the club's made this year and see it continuing through 2008.
Get Well Soon You've suffered enough, my heart goes out to you I really hope you survive your distressing illness. People like you are what we in Tarn call the "salt of the earth", struggling on through the pain barrier without a word of complaint. Happy new year to all the family mate
Yep I have to agree that you're right. Davey's record in the loan & transfer market has largely been pretty good. As long as he maintains a squad at the end of January capable of keeping us out of the bottom 7 or 8 then I'll be satisfied. The one area that concerns me is the forward line, Davey's signings in this department have been poor. I hope that he can put that right during January otherwise we could yet be in trouble.
Cheers Ian. The same to you & yours Trouble's gone out playing with her friends, leaving me to continually sneeze watery snot all over the computer screen. But I'm not one to complain or feel sorry for myself.
Well I've a nasty sore throat But a little lubrication should sort it out. I'm visiting a clinic for treatment tonight.
Free Penguins In Courthouse pub, 1.30 Sat before the Blackpool match Just get me a pint and the penguin is yours.
Nah Fosters not good enough for this league According to one expert sitting behind me at some games Fortunately he wasnt there on Boxing day or he would have been in ecstasy when he got sent off. but at several games I've had to ignore the incessant "not good enough" every time he made an easy pass instead of a beckhamesque 50 yarder to a marked striker, or every time the left winger for the opposition got the ball. same guy thinks Souza is prem quality though
How do we maintain a Championship side with our current attendances? I have been monitoring the gates for this seasan, and so far our avergae home gate is 10,537. However, when we play away the average gate is 19,060. That's a huge difference when it comes to the money available for players and wages, plus we don't have a huge benefactor in the background. Cryne has kept us afloat, but I mean a multi-million pound injection on cash.
