    My mate's father-in-law is from Pilley - he was in Grimethorpe Colliery Band and appeared in Brassed Off. He was one of those at the bach playing a big tuba...

    You did'nt know this but

    Pilley Working Mens Club (Named Wharncliffe WMC and Reading Rooms) had one of the best libraries in England in the old days. Believe or believe not people used to go in the club to 'Read' not to drink :D :D :D

    My Maths teacher at school, when try to explain the concept of 'infinity' to us Hoyland boys, described it as 'a bit further away than Pilley'.</p>
