Really don't know. An experienced manager with knowledge of the championship and its players, would have brought him on to tighten up and keep Tomlin quiet.... rather than bringing Odour on for his debut in an unfamiliar position. Struber has made a difference I feel and we are looking better but some decisions are odd. Radlinger in my opinion is our third best keeper, Shmidt is not ready and shouldn't have started at Blackburn and not playing a defensive midfielder in his opening 2 away games cost us. So frustrating because we are so close yet small things are costing us dearly.
In my opinion I've seen nothing so far to suggest any improvement under Struber. Ok we picked up a win but imo that was pure luck. Hull missed some absolutely sitters which other teams have scored so the opposition fortunately missing doesn't make us better. Yes we've played some good stuff but we played some good stuff under Murray and stendel too. Mainly because our overall play is good but we simply can't defend which is something that apart from the odd game hasn't changed all season.
Murray gave us a bit more structure but I think players look more comfortable and natural in the formation Struber has adopted. The balance of the side has been better the last 2 games. We deservedly beat Hull in my view and should have secured at least a point yesterday.
His last game was it Stoke he was extremely poor on the passing front, maybe Struber spent time watching that vid because Collins also lost his place.
So doesn’t deserve to play again? Let’s face it we have 2/3 players who perform poorly week in week out and retain their place for the following match. You can’t judge a player on 1 performance let’s face it if struber has done his homework and research the players properly it should have been Dougall getting subbed on when we’re 2-1 up away from home everybody knows it. With a run of games under his belt he’s comfortably one of our best players some forget he broke his leg and hasn’t had much game time he’s head and shoulders above anyone else we have in the squad in the defensive role.
I didn't say he shouldn't. I'm just answering the question as to why the new manager might not be keen.
The win against Hull wasn't pure luck. Yes they missed a couple of chances but so did we and had a stonewall penalty turned down. Is if fair to call out your opponents ‘missed chances’ and ifs and buts but discount your own, when describing a win as pure luck?
It was in my opinion pure luck that they didn't bury their sitters. Or rather it was purely a change of luck that they didn't whilst previous opponents did.
Hull.were one of the poorest sides I've seen this season at Oakwell which surprised me given they'd just beaten Preston 4 - 0. Having said that we deserved to win, we scored 3 goals. And that sadly seems to be necessary to have any chance of a result.
I think the point is that there was no sign that the defensive frailties are improving. It was just profligate finishing on Hull's part.
Perhaps our keeper coming out and narrowing the angles contributed to that 1st miss, so not necessarily pure luck. Still no mention of our ‘ what ifs’ though
I thought Hull were poor side on the day and that Preston win whilst surprising was just one of their last four in which they have been beaten to nil.
Thats the first message I have seen abart him pressurising the striker to hit it early in which he missed. Nice one, his **** ups get reported multiple times.
