    8 consecutive defeats and 8 consecutive victories in the same season. That would be truly mental. Would be a good pub quiz question though.

    Didnt we once have the bbc lot down in the late 70s early 80s....making history...if we won that night.....but either exeter or was it torquay
    Turned us over....i know it was barry davis...who was there that night from the bbc.....memory not what it should be....mmmm exeter....the more i think about it clarkys rein....think we lost 4..3...if im not getting mixed up we were 3 nill up i think too

    It was Torquay they had a coloured lad up front, Les Lawrence, what a player he was.

    I think the Exeter game you're referring to was late in Jim Iley-out's reign? 1977 I think. At that time I lived in Holmfirth and travelled to games with my Dad. He was away on business so I got the bus (had to change in Scisset I think). We were cruising at half-time but fell apart in the second and the "Iley Out" chants were ringing around the Ponty. It was a depressing bus journey home!

    Remember Jim of the Iley hevvin a run of 12 undefeated, 8 of em were draws though int towd foth division.

    Yep.....5 on trot then played Torquay on a Tuesday night in front of 12644 fans and lost 2-1......my first match :rolleyes: Towd man said I was a curse....not sure if he meant at the footy or in life :confused:
