assuming all players are fit. I bet opinions will differ on this one. IMO on current form. Steele Shotton, Thompson/or Filekovic, Moore, Dickinson (Foster not cutting it at the moment, not seen Filekovic play but Thompson impressed when he replaced Moore as Sub) Anderson, Hallfredson, Doyle, Hammill (was tempted to put Colace in middle and Hallfredson wide, but Hamill adds pace to midfield) Hume & Macken (2 games ago Gray and Boggy would have been first choice but these two have been outstanding)
foster and moore HAVE to be first choice CB's playing with fire messing with splitting them too up especially with the inexperienced full backs at min.
You'd drop our captain for a player that was brought off after 25 mins in his only start and a sub appearance - and then suggest thats our best 11? Forster although hasn't had the greatest starts to the season does seem to have settled down know he has a bit of place in full back positions.
Scott..... Thomo has played CB for us & Filekovic was signed by Robbo so why would he not play? It was reported that Thompson said he prefers to play in midfield........ That doesn't mean he has refused to play centre back. He has already played their and done well in late sub appearance. As for Filekovic, I'm not sure where you are coming from. He came here on trial, Robins said he had impressed and later decided to sign him. Why then would Robins not play him? Also remember he is full international for Slovenia....
I'd suggest exactly that...... our captain ain't cutting it! he's not un-droppable... harsh but true Foster almost gifted them two goals yesterday, he has been superb for the reds but seems to be off the boil at the moment as is Kozluk. Certainly not leading by example. Not saying Thompson is the answer but he looked good against Burnley when he cam on to replace Darren Moore as late sub. Won headers, read play well and looked comfortable on the ball. As for early substitution against Watford, its difficult to comment as I wasn't there but Thompson was playing in midfield. He was replaced after 28mins by a striker (KO). May not have been his best performance, but I assume that this was tactical substitution as we were not creating chances in front of goal. Robins soon realised that KO was not the answer (a championship level at least) and has sent him out on loan.
Thompson did do ok when he came on for Big Daz. Showed some potential for 20 mins or so... But suggesting you'd pick him over Foster is pretty comical. I agree Foster hasn't been at his best, but he rarely has a poor game and he's pretty consistent. A bit of continuity and stability is required with all these new players coming in. If this Slovenian chap is better than Fozzie or Daz, then all well and good but I haven't seen two better centre halves at the club who are consistently better than two in posession. Big Daz has been fantastic of late!
Are you for real? Foster had a sh*t start to the season I agree, but in recent games he's been playing well alongside Moore again, especially with the new lads at either side. We've conceded two in our last two games, one came from a free-kick (also down to suspect goalkeeping) and the other was a long range effort. Robins will pick the best team when available, unlike the last gaffer. Also, you've not seen Filekovic play, you know nothing about him, yet you'd drop 'Mr Consistent' and our club captain for him. Screw your head back on.
RE: Scott..... Thomo has played CB for us & Filekovic was signed by Robbo so why would he not play? I got told last week that Thompson refused to played CB after the Burnley game, stating he's a midfielder. Don't think Robins will stand for that sort of attitude - he should be put a shift in where ever he's played. Apparantly doesn't want to do that though. That's why I think he's brought Filekovic in, more cover for the CB area. MR said Filekovic played in a behind closed doors game last week but he was way behind everyone else's fitness levels. The mini pre-season Robins is performing with them over the next 2 weeks will be vital for him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him named on the subs bench at Keepmoat.
Mr Consistent......? maybe in his first season...... Didn't have best of games yesterday IMO, made two absolute howlers that could have cost us dear thankfully Ipswich aren't having luck infront of goal at the moment. Mooro gave him a roasting for failing to head ball clear when cross was whipped across box, fortunatly Carlos Edwards first touch was poor and went out for goal kick..... Also seems to go in for challenges/headers with his own players, no one else having that problem.... out of form, and uncharacteristic for Foster. I accept Thomo/Filekovic are unknowns but on current form I'd give them a shot in front of calamity Steve..... Both current internationals. Filekovic spoken highly of by Robins from his trial, and Thompson is big presence and impressed in pre-season and as sub against Burnley.
You cant expect Foster to play well when he darent leave the quayside in case the ship decided to turn.
RE: I'd suggest exactly that...... our captain ain't cutting it! he's not un-droppable... harsh but Im not saying he's undroppable - what I am saying is how can you suggest a best 11 includes a player who came on as a late substitute in that position as his only appearance against the captain and someone who has been instrumental in keeping this team in the division. Fickle.
