Isn't it something like £8k a week? Just seen a posting from a Huddersfield fan on facebook saying that Jordan Rhodes was on £24k a week with them! make no wonder he stayed with them so long and shows how well we've done just to stay up when a L1 club could afford that!
I don't know if it's true but I've been told that Steele is on £7k a week so I'd say he'd be amongst the higher earners at the club.
Steeles got to be highest. If Hassells on anymore than 2.5 k a week we have 24 hours to get shut if anyone will take him. If hes on 10k a week and a Fan who pays a lot of money to watch him and them cant have an opinion on a fans fourm then theres something very very wrong.
I reckon the top earner wil get no more than 5k a week. Days of BFC paying more than 5/6 grand a week are long gone, well other when that boring short arse bestard robins brought in all them loan players which cost the club over a million quid!
Bobby will be one of the higher earners at the club Phil and probably on a lot more than £2.5k a week, he has been with us a long time and contrary to your opinion he has been a great servant of the club.
too much...whoever it is .......................thats not having a go at any of our lot personally the whole wage structure is fecking stupid for footballers these days.. stuff the average punter to overpay the average footballer! ... rant for tonight over!
I really think some people have some crazy ideas about how much players get/got paid at Barnsley. At the evening with John Dennis he said the highest earning player, by some way, during his time at the club was Craig Hignett, who, when signing on fees, appearance money and all that were taken into consideration, earned around £300k one year. That sort of blows the 'Mike Sheron was on £8k per week' stories out of the water and I really can't imagine that we've allowed individual wages to get so far out of hand again, particularly in the last few years where we've really been tightening the purse strings.
I wonder how long it will be before the amounts players are paid are so obscene that they have to be described as an amount per day? I'm shocked fans (of all clubs) boast of the ridiculous amounts their clubs are throwing away on mercenaries who show little loyalty or commitment to fans. If (and it's a big if) Rhodes was on £24k a week. Lets call it what it is. Thats £1.25m a year before bonuses. Thats beyond obscene.
Rhodes has been on his new contract since January to keep in there. So Udders have spent about 800k on him to achieve promotion. Now they sell him for a rumoured £8M. Bloody good business. £7.2M to spend. We wish.
Same goes for any player then, not just the ones you don't like. Remember that next time somebody criticizes a player you like. Feckin hypocrite.
after listening to talksport last night its going to get even harder for many of us to compete,,if I heard correctly the teams relegated from the premiership the season after next will recieve more money than man city got last season for winning the title, its all part of a new tv deal.. its more important this season than ever before that teams in the premiership dont get relegated and teams in the championship do get promoted, mega money awaits in the prem 2013-14. interestingly they were also on about the wage cap in (i think) americas NFL (either that or that hyped up rounders game they play),and seemed to be of the opinion that it was starting to allow more competition.
Footballers contracts are very heavily weighted on performance, based on wins, personal performance, league table position when winning etc so it is difficult to say. I doubt our highest basic is any more than £5k per week.
People have to realise that although things might not be perfect for Barnsley fans, we are still over achieving quite considerably and have been for some time. That will only become harder and more impressive should we manage to stay up - although the financial controls should help us in some respects.
