Its iconic. Steeped in history. Its beautiful is some peoples eyes. The rest of the stands are faceless and boring. Its the only bit of history we should have and need to protect. Its not like we sell out every week
Y'now what... I somehow kinda agree with you here.. Fulham still have the Craven Cottage... so why not. It would be good ,however, to make the structure more sound and perhaps just give it a bit of a re-decorate... back stage facilities too could be improved . Oh and get rid of that stupid tv gantry that blocks out the dorma thing too. With bit of thought the West stand could become a very Iconic part of BFC.
Re: Y'now what... I somehow kinda agree with you here.. Rather tv be looking at east stand then vice versa. Had a season ticket in west upper in 80s but wouldn't want to parade it alongside a mine on telly
Hear what you say however If a really good makeover was achieved of the West stand , then it would be great.
we should paint it. and put some domestos in the bogs. and take every alternate row out. and paint it again with fire retardant paint. red and white paint.
Agree wi thi spadge, could do wi that 'orrible tv gantry ragging darn and barnsley football club in big letters sticking back onto the gable to make the old girl look a bit classy like , sithi.
Re: Y'now what... I somehow kinda agree with you here.. Surely in this day and age we could rig up some sort of remote controlled Tv camera hanging off the top of the stand, so as not to spoil the look. And restore the gable to its former glory.
Re: Y'now what... I somehow kinda agree with you here.. Needs a spruce up and a paint job and a bit of modernisation but not replacing.
I love the west stand, but it`s knackered and the facilities are jurassic not to mention the bogs. Upper tier has no legroom and made of wood from the early 1900`s. Embrace the 21st century
Renovate it. Do the work that needs doing to make it safer. Put a few more plastic chairs on. But I wouldn't knock it down and rebuild it. It has character. It was funded by our FA cup win so it has history. And it is a completely pointless exercise, as the capacity of the ground doesn't need improving and to be honest, never will.
