I'm looking at some reasonably priced accommodation there for a trip later this year and would appreciate any feedback from people who know the area before I book. What's it like in the evenings - is it a busy,well-litarea and would you feel safe walking there in the evenings? TIA.
its north london the town/high street bit is fine but i would not wont to stray too far of the beaten track at night all london is a **** hole if you ask me but its not too bad round there in day light
He's just jesting Not a bad place at all. One or two decent pubs (if they could learn how to keep and serve beer!). However, very few places to stay in Islington as far as I can see. There's a Jury's which I reckon will be ok but the area isn't brimming with hotels. I've been there for concerts at the Academy before and never seen any hint of bother. Going again in a week or so to see The Tubes! P.S. I'll be staying right in the heart of seediness opposite King's Cross and walking to Islington and back late at night. The Islington end is like a leafy suburb.
Very nice One of the better parts of London but not too poncey for a night out. Plenty of bars, pubs and restaurants round Angel. Walk from Angel down Upper Street towards Highbury and Islington station. Plenty of nice places and very safe at night. Very busy especially if its sunny. Also plenty of stuff going on round the triangular-shaped junction of Upper Street and Essex Road (close to Angel station).
