... who followed us around in the prem? any info much appreciated - looking for a good read whilst on holiday.
A really , really good read.....................that is if you don't mind being patronised every other page and don't mind reading a book full of footballing cliches from yet another vulture out to pick some financial bones from BFC's season in the Prem. Could have been written by Mark Lawrenson! If you want to read an excellent footy book that's very unconventional but still maintains interest throughout try 'Brilliant Orange', It's about Dutch football and analyses how their culture as influenced the way the Dutch play football. Put's Redders Janet and John effort amd Life at the Top to shame!
RE: what a load of ballacks nt Is it your reasoned influencing skills and diplomacy that soon sway people round to your opinion?
RE: The Damned United by David Peace I have flicked through that book mate and it look's an excellent read.....so much so, it's next on my list to buy. Another good read is 'The Beautiful Game'. Examines thE influence that money has had on football in the lower leagues. Read that and it makes you realise that financially there is a lot worse off than BFC.
Morbo - The Story of Spanish Football recommended. Next up in football reading for me is "Soccer in a Football World" - history of the game in the US
Yet another good read - the story of Robin Friday. This name rang a vague bell for me from the 70s when he played for reading - and chronicles the life and times of 'The greatest footbaler you never sa'w. A 'Rags to more rags' tale of a footballer who could have gone to the top but threw it all away. Very well written - both humorous and sad. 10/10.
Michael Sheen The bloke who plays Blair in The queen.. Read anything by David Peace. Especially the Red Riding Quartet. Very grim novels about the Ripper investigations.
