What's the point of playing Heskey without Beckham?

Beckham should be in the starting England XI every time, but especially if you are playing with a big man up front. You have Joe Cole on the left for pace, and there's no reason you can't shake it up with 20 to go by bringing on Walcott for Becks, but to start his delivery, experience and commitment are far more valuable that anything Walcott can offer at this early stage of his career.

btw this automatically means Walcott is guaranteed a hat-trick now :D

    To be fair mate,

Any one of those players on that field should be have the ability to supply Heskey with some killer balls.

When you think about what they earn per week, and the fact that they play this game for hours every day - we shouldn't be relying on one player to provide the ammunition for the frontmen. Especially not someone who is deep into the twilight of his career.

told you that was nailed on

but I'm not saying we should rely on Beckham, but that he is worth a starting place on the right whoever is playing, but especially so when Heskey is up top.

yes Walcott is playing well today, but I believe the team as a whole would be more effective with him coming on as a sub.

I agree with you, however -

We have been relying on the same bunch of players for the past 10 years now. It's time to start blooding a few of the youth, just like the rest of the big nations are.

Agbonlahor, Ashton, Young - will all feature at the next world cup. Sadly, I don't think the likes of Beckham and Heskey will...
