Stadiums collapsing, workers dying, supporters rioting and civil disorder on a huge scale. And this is the world game?? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-25383023
I hear you. It's a massive concern. It was always coming. Football's got too big for it's own boots. Well said tom. I'm disappointed in the response to your thread. But they don't care. They have their tv sports, fck the consequences. If they don't care about the fact their trainers were made by a child with blistered hands who should be at school, they won't shed a tear over a fella who has lost his life through economic stadium construction, to bring the wonderful game of football to the world and their sponsors. We are the world It's a beautiful game. For the people, all people.
was all set to take my 11 year old son to WC in Brazil. Asked school for permission to take him out and spent 2 years going to England games. My initial thought was that it would be better to go to Brazil than the euros as being so far away it would attract less UK idiots. Decided against it now, Brazil is a mess.
Theres always the counter argument that no one gave a chuff about the plight of construction workers in Brazil and Qatar until they got the World Cup which put a world magnifying glass on their countries practices. Qatar have already altered some of the practices as a direct result of criticism from foreign press about the payment and conditions of migrant workers building their World Cup stadia
Talking with a lass from Brazil yesterday They people of Brazil don't want it. Apparently one joke is a man gets held up on the street, and the mugger is talking to him in English. When asked why he's speaking English he replies it's to be ready for the English coming for the World Cup. She said she would never carry her mobile in the street in her home town. It's an open invitation to be mugged.
