High-jump was better at secondary school, once we were allowed to do the Fosberry Flop. At primary school long-jump was better, provided there were no tin cans, dog turds or other such hazards in the sand-pit. However, the ass was whacked off them both by rounders - the king of primary school sports!
high jump You jumped onto a nice clean matt, often inside, instead of some horrible wet sand that umpteen dogs had shat in.
they were both as ***** as each other or to be fair, i was ***** at them both o well them days are well behind me now, so it dunt matter - cant see me ever needing to use them skills in the future.
You're all just saying high jump cos of the birds. Proper sportsboys were into long jump. I once jumped so long I had to catch the bus back.
I was once forced to do the 200mts so when we set off i ran really slow with my knees up to my chest and when I got ten yards from the finish I sprinted as fast as I could, crossed the line and carried on running all the way home
RE: better than uni-hock? that was THE king of all fake sports! fecking hell, I forgot all about uni-hock. Wicked indoor sport, especially when the only alternative was crab football. The crappest, most uncomfortable game ever, useful only for the free and easy views up the girl's skirts. Especially Emma Bird's.
Long jump - hands down The high jump required a certain amount of take off energy and an 80% chance of hurting yourself if you fell awkwardly or not. Also if you caught the bar, that hurt your knees and if you fell late the bar would hurt when you fell on it. If you fell first the bar would fall on you - and hurt.
Things hidden in the sand also hurt if they were sharp.
On the other hand, the long jump you could just run and do a bit of a jump and the games master would then ignore you and you could get to the changing rooms early, while he was concentrating on his favourites.
I quite liked the cross country, cos I could go and hide in the local cemetery until the home strait, and then join up with everybody and come in quite a good position. And you didn't get hurt.

RE: better than uni-hock? that was THE king of all fake sports! Emma Bird was hot. Curves and bumps in all the right places, even at primary school. Probably fat with five kids by different blokes now like......
I always thought the long-jump looked a bit camp. Running down a track and jumping as far as you can into a sand pit. Had they done it over the river*banks and stuff where you'd challange your mates to see what was the widest point they could jump over in bewteen catching sticklebacks. They'd be onto a winner. *streams
