OK! Walsall may well be at home HOWEVER.. 1 We have a fantastic away record 2 We beat them at their place 3 We have an 'automatic promotion' points tally in the second half of the season (where it counts) 4 We beat the champions 4-1 away on the last day of the season when most people had us down for a loss or at best a draw producing a real postive attacking approach 5 We finally have someone in Heggy who can a) motivate players and b) has a pretty astute idea of what it needs to get the job done tactically 6 We have a stable first team and reserve bench with some players e.g. Sam W and Alfie M on form and confident. The back two look as solid a pair as we have seen for a long time 7 The team overall MUST be confident after a 3-0 win and that MUST have dented Walsall's confidence and Heggy won't allow complacency or over confidence to take hold. 8 Even if a couple of our goals were fortunate deflections, we had a good goal disallowed and created more chances than Walsall and for the two clear cut ones they had, their finishing let them down. We did not sit back inviting them on at 3-0 either and in spite of the fact they rallied and came at us, apart from one or two chances we still looked solid and looked to counter. In summary, playing away suits our game as Walsall will have to attack and that will leave them exposed to the counter and they will be very wary of Sam and Adam who should have space (not that SW seems to need 'space' if the 3rd goal is anything to go by). I honestly think we will score away, especially if Walsall are trailing near the end and have to throw everyone forward and, although we may well lose, IMHO I don't think Walsall, based on the above facts, and whilst they have racked up some big scores, have 4 goals in them - not against us in our current form at any rate. COYR!!
Lol we are taking barnsley here TT lol but i understand your point... But what do i know i forcast us to miss out on these play offs so every thing is a bonus to me Im the last bloke PH should listeni to , but my game plan would be more of the same of Saturdays play like that, in your face high tempo stuff and we will beat anyone on our day.... Attack best form of defence..... And if we get at them straight away they wont be expecting that and who knows a couple of early goals for us and their heads will drop and beach time will enter their thoughts hopefully .... But you never know.... Its a funny old game...is football let alone being a fan lol what ever happens the club have made the town proud and dare i say buzzing again... Long may it last xx
I would feel strangely more confident had we been going there level pegging, as it would all to play for and we are capable of getting a result anywhere'. The 3-0 lead just means that we are expected to win, so that brings its own pressure. Can you imagine us trying to repeat the last 10 minutes against Colchester for the whole game? Hopefully not, but Walsall will be throwing their all at us, if they score first it gets very nervous.
Apart from the 5-0 against port Vale on the last game of the season proper when PV had nothing to play for and Chesterfield in March, Walsall haven't scored more that 2 at home or away since January and have been at the end of a few 4 goal pastings in that period so the idea of 'free scoring Walsall' seems a bit of a myth.
" 2 We beat them at their place " and they beat us at our place, and we all saw how little effect that had on the play off match. theres going to be goals in this 2nd leg, and i think we will do enough to go through.
