and I mean including all its predecessors. I think I first posted in 1999 or 2000, not sure. First time I ever touched interenet must have been end of 1999 or early 2000. I have never made one good post either. Just drivel like this one. ah well.....
RE: It was around in '98 you old bugger. Can't believe I have been reading your posts all these years...lol ant a clue who you are. I just know you sit in Eaststand, think you're abart 40 odd and are a bit of leftie. when is your American lady friend coming to tarn?
RE: It was around in '98 2 weeks tomorrow - but just got an email from her to say it may be next weekend!
Blimey! That long?! So what were the predecessors like, as in how they worked and stuff, were they just similar to this one?
RE: Blimey! That long?! similar, except anyone could post you did not have to register at all. It was more of a human zoo. I was only a small baby at the time
RE: I see just typed it in each time mate. People used to change names. Ive always stuck with original lol.
RE: I see There was a space to put in the name you were posting as, also it would save as a cookie so you didn't have to put it in everytime. It did make for some occasions when people would post as another user though.
RE: I see when did reg come in Eastie? was it when it changed to tarn1? great stuff on your lass coming oiver! Bet you're excited! is it serious now?
RE: I see I'm not sure - I think this incarnation of the site brought in registration. Is it serious? Could say that, we get married in Sept, and when she comes over she's here til the wedding so that's basically that!
RE: I see BLOODY HELL!!! Didn't realise it was that heavey!!! Congrats then. Unless I knew before and completely forgot? wow. transatlantic internet loving! so where you going to live mate?
I first started posting about 99, there's still quite a few people on here who were on back then. It has become an addiction to check this site over the years, seems to be the first thing i check when i log on.
Didn't there used to be a message board through the official site? I used to read that whilst at school I think.
RE: I see Living over here, at least to start with. She's got a 19 year old daughter though who is living with her fella, so I expect that when a grandkid is on the horizon she'll be wanting to move back.
yes was from official site. when oficial site was still quite good. Perform all the sites became the same and all ****.
There were three or four.. ... from about 1995/6. Radders had one, Matt Palmer, Daz had a good one and Johnny WIG (Wilson Is God) had a small one (so to speak) with BFC chants, crowd noises and other general buffoonery. These were then coalesced into the origonal barnsleyfc.co.uk and run by a small and now erstwhile site admin. Matt, Radders, Airtyke Tommy etc... egged on and generally abused by Tuffers, Rich A Tuffers mate, Westie and a few other die hards. Other names from the past include... TVTyke - Since rebadged Steve True Red - Who put the 'dis' into dyslexia Rude Kid - the tw@t Tattersall Tyke - An old git of dubious disposition Zoltan HOD, Zenmaster Ness - two great icons and sorely missed Tah Na Kwow - a Malaysian friend that hated everyone The barnsleyfc.co.uk site name was 'given' to the club in recognition of their bloody-mindedness in demanding the thing without legal claim or right. I don't think Radders made any money from it but a Boxster suddenly appeared on his drive and he was seen in the company of stunning, sweaty Cuban cigar rollers for about 2 years. There were also several chat rooms loosely based on rooms in the Outpost with another called the Groggers. There was a good deal of shagging done in there for sure, and a disco every Friday afternoon where you had to turn up in character - but that was usually Tuffers getting all giddy. Happy Days
