... Perhaps we could have a sweep and the one nearest the actual date can collect. I may be wrong but have we had 10 managers in the last 11 years? We have certainly had loads. If the trend continues re: the lack of any continuity whatsoever I'm guessing that the next manager will be sacked on 21/04/2014 which gives him a massive amount of time to turn things around and have us in the Premier League or at the bottom of Div1
Yes ok maybe it's zzzzzzzzz but theres a point nevertheless. The point is that we do not have continuity at this club and we replace managers on a frighteningly too frequent basis, even in this short-termist world
I was hoping your lard post was the last stupid thing you would post for a while.! Hill got the sack because he was not good enough at his job, the league record backs that up. not because of some witch hunt like you have accused people of and now it looks like you will continue with. I would love to have the same manager for 15 years,, but keeping the wrong one is just plain stupid !!
Your right in what you say Mr pilot, we do need some continuity but with a manager who as some experience
When have I accused people of a witch hunt? Do we live in Salem? Methinks we dont so please base your criticism on some kind of fact. How many times do we have to go down the path of recruiting a manager to see him sacked 12 months later? The fact that Hill is now 'failed' at the club is irrelevant. We do not get the continuity and we do not give any manager enough time to build anything before we chop and change. The statistics back that up, just like you use comments about the recent league record to back yourself up.
Have the mistakes been sacking good managers too early or is it more of a case of employing poor managers in the first place?
Yes that's a good point and if youre correct in what you seem to be implying then we do really need the correct decision this time
So , I will ask again , should we just keep a poor manager just so we can say we have kept him, or do we bite the bullet and get rid and give ourselves a chance? I dont think the fact we have sacked so many managers is as bad as the fact we have set so many bad mangers on in the first instance. This is the biggest problem we have had, not getting rid of them , its setting them on that is the main problem. PS, Want to buy any lard ?
The statistics show that changing the manager has got us promoted and kept us up. Ironically if we go down it will be because hill wasnt sacked quick enough
I'll guess when he doesn't perform in what he's paid for. Like I have said its a job. You don't do what you are paid for the you get sacked. But... Unlike most industries this is the only job you can be sacked for and get a better paid Job and sometimes in a better league
I dont disagree with that comment at all. Its the continuity thing for me. Constant chopping and changing is by its nature unsettling. One of the reasons I 'clung' to Hill was that I feel we need to give someone a fair crack of the whip. I'm like everyone else in wanting a successful club but I am really fed up of the constant hiring and sacking. There was a time when to become Barnsley manager was to be appointed to a job with long tenure..... I would prefer certain candidates to others at the present time but for me, whoever the next manager is he does need time and we should be prepared to give him some rather than simply sack him when things go wrong. To do that requires guts just as much as sacking someone does in the first place. If we go down should we sack the new manager or do we blame Hill and keep him on? There are no right and wrongs I suppose but I have an opinion like everyone else. Hopefully we will all be happy becasue the board will pick a good bloke for both the short and longer term p.s. I have moved on from lard. I thought about doing tripe but some people would have an excuse for slagging me off if I did that. I am now thinking of allegories involving cucumber sandwiches
I think mate we kept Hill about 4 games too long, maybe we will go down now, but I think 4 games ago, I know we won at millwall and got 3 points there, I think with a different manager we would have got at least another 6 points from the 3 home games. To lose to Wednesday, Brum and Blackburn has been a truely awful thing to experience. Hopefully the next manager is a keepsie !!
