Something I've been thinking about over the last couple of days. Albert Adomah had a goal disallowed for Middlesbrough against Leeds at the weekend as his overhead kick was deemed a high foot. Although there was a Leeds player in close attendance, Adomah got his shot away without much of an interception. There should be a rule, either 1) all overhead kicks are allowed, or 2) all overhead kicks are deemed a high foot. Had Leroy Lita scored with his at the weekend, I'm pretty sure it would have stood, it's another inconsistency in a game full of inconsistencies.
that goal for Boro should have stood the guy did not know where the Leeds player was so it was not dangerous play at all IMHO.
Dermot Gallagher discussed this on SSNHQ this morning. You can do then as long as an opposing player isnt going in for the ball with his head and also if the opposition wouldnt get to the ball in the time you leave the floor to making contact with the ball
I thought same as you with that Middlesboro one, thought there was absolutely nowt wrong. Like you say, they might as well rule that you are not allowed to do overhead kicks. Also, the ridiculous penalty decision against Hull, it was missed but still Steve Bruce was right but he'll probably get into trouble for what he said. Managers should be allowed to discuss and criticise referee's decisions, providing that they don't imply that the ref did it deliberately or that he's a cheat.
I'd have disallowed Trevor Sinclair's <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Xd_dR8uict4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The problem with this is that it leaves it to the interpretation of the officials and as we all know this often leads to mistakes as with the 'boro goal at the weekend.
The Boro decision was a stinker. He cleanly connected with the ball only. Not only that but Warnock was stooping a bit. No one from Leeds seemed to be claiming a penalty either. Refs are ****.
