If it keeps on rainin’, levee’s goin’ to break, If it keeps on rainin’, levee’s goin’ to break, When the levee breaks I’ll have no place to stay. Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, Lord, mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home, Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well. Don’t it make you feel bad When you’re tryin’ to find your way home, You don’t know which way to go? If you’re goin’ down south They go no work to do, If you don’t know about chicago. Cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good, Now, cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good, When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move. All last night sat on the levee and moaned, All last night sat on the levee and moaned, Thinkin’ ’bout me baby and my happy home. Going, go’n’ to chicago, Go’n’ to chicago, Sorry but I can’t take you. Going down, going down now, going down
So ... basically: It's not nature's fault. It's not George W Bush's fault. It's that pesky Robert Plant again. I bet he also regrets those infamous b-sides he wrote - such as 'Let's bomb Iraq', 'Look out for that gret big wave in Sri Lanka' and my personal favourite 'African's - don't wear sheaths'.
RE: So ... basically: Well I just think it's a bit of a coincidence that he's singing about levees breaking and then before you know it, within 35 years, several levees do break. Bet he's responsible for global warming aswell.
It seems Robert Plant was in New Orleans at the time: When interviewed he said: ''How Many More Times do I have to tell thi ... This eer hurricance hit & we were all a bit Dazed & Confused. All the electric went off, resulting in a Communication Breakdown. The Ocean seemed to be rising, so I says 'I don't want to be here When The Levee Breaks - no way, so I'm Going To California'. It's a real Heartbreaker that all these people are dead ... I bet right now they're on the Stairway To Heaven. I have a Black Dog, and when this is all over I want to Bring It On Home. Tell yer what, Katerina, You Shook Me. Right - I'm off to the local Indian takeaway, the Kashmir, then I'm signing on the Rock and Roll.'' These bloody Rock legends are all the same.
RE: It seems Robert Plant was in New Orleans at the time: Sounds just like when Biff Byford of Saxon went to Brooklands at Dodworth, "I were a Motorcycle Man, on me Heavy Metal Thunder, Wheels of Steel clad in Denim & Leather. I could see the Light Shining when I said Suzie hold On theres a man with a Machine Gun but don't worry there's the Strong Arm of the Law coming" Apparently.
