when the ref gave Swindon a pen...

was it just me saw him signal for a corner...until the shout from their away end (I don't think the players appealed)? Then he decides it's a pen. Or was he waiting for his brain to click into gear and the corner thing was purely instinctive after it hit Robbie, before his "judgement" came into play and he decided it was handball?

Or am I biased and mad?

either way, if the ref decides it's a pen, Robbie has to be sent off. I saw the pen on telly tho and I'm not convinced it was handball. And a ref SHOULD be sure to give it.

    oh well, we won.

Agree - we thought at first he'd given corner and also ref has to be sure to give the penalty

He definitely pointed for a corner.

And there's me thinking that refs never change their minds!

  4. Looked like an instinctive reaction from Williams to me

Like an Aussie batsman fending off a short one from Steve Harmison, sticking something in the way of a ball in the face. It looked like arm to ball, but I doubt it was deliberate. Crap penalty though - even worse than Nardiello's

The swindon commentators said at the time they even thought the ref had given a corner!

Mr Leake has is own rule book mate...

I can't remember if I saw him give a corner, but I remember all their players protesting for about 5 seconds as if he hadn't given a penalty, then all of a sudden there was a red card, and Robbie was walking off.

I suspect player and fan pressure got to him.

He's only little and looks like Colleen off Home and Away, it's hardly surprising.
