Whether you are for or against Howard leaving the prive of 500k is well short of his true valuation in todays market. I can't remember the last time the club made a decent transfer deal that looked good for the club .......Possibly Flinders to Crystal Palace but that's now easier to say in hindsight of performances and progression?

To get a good deal the player has to be playing well at time. Thats why no club put an offer in for Howard in the summer.

We don't do many good 'uns ...... too quick to take the ...

..... first offer. We are the laughing stock of South Yorkshire today, and probably even wider, for selling Howard for peanuts.

I've already had 3 texts from Blades fans I know, saying various versions of ........

"Thanks for GIVING us your best player for next to nowt - hee hee - £2.5 million in the coffers for Tonge and £500,000 out for Howard, what a bargain"

What a chuffing shambles and an embarrassment - the powers that be at Barnsley FC couldn't run a raffle and make a profit

RE: Really? When did Michael Tonge last put a good ....

There were probably a few teams after Tonge at the time which helps with the price.
With Howard there was nobody interested in him, why was that ?

I think there were a few interested in him .............

....... but if you sell to the first bidder you never find out do you? that's what happens when you can't wait to get your hands on the cash.

If he's around long enough, Mr Davey will no doubt waste it on some Bolivian 14 year old on YouTube who's going to be the new Maradonna

Howards agents will have made it clear that it was Sheff UTD or wait until his contract ran out, any club would have done the same
players have all the power these days.

Berbatov was worth that wasn't he, and wanted to go Man UTD. Man City were willing to pay more but he went to Man UTD "Player Power at its best"

Blackburn have signed MK Dons captain Keith Andrews on a three-year contract for a fee believed to be about £750,000, rising to £1m.

Couple of big differences. Length of contract, age in Ramsey's case.

Also each went to the Premiership, extra cash.

Not really a comparison mate.

Ermmmmmmmm, Berbatov refused to perform and threatened to sit in the stands BUT Spurs held out for £30m + Frazer Cambell for a year! Player power my ar$e, Man Utd were trying it on and trying to get Berbatov on the cheap. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SHEFF UTD HAVE DONE TO US BUT WE CAVED IN!
