When we signed Davies, how much competition did we have for his signature?

Were there many other clubs making him offers at the time?

Well my question is why we are signing free transfers from chesterfield and putting in 300k release clauses??..

Being a Free transfer is irrelevant. Gives him a bit more clout. What should we have done- not signed him. I think this is a bit of a stick to beat Don Rowing with but we are getting £300k for him. I have dealt with Don and hold him in high regard. Some people that post on here should remember we are Barnsley not Chelsea or Man City.

He signed a pre-contract with the Club. There were plenty of clubs after him.

He's going by choice, get over it. The way he is playing he's over priced by 150k.

Apparently the club now say that he did not sign a pre-contract with us. even though Robins met him and agreed the deal in February, This did not happen now !!

Further evidence that you should always take the club's statements with a generous pinch of salt.

How can we believe anything they say? At the time he was signing they said he signed a pre-contract. That much I am sure.

Seem to remember Hill saying we were the only Championship club that offered him a contract.

That's what I thought. With that in mind i'm at a loss as to how he came to be the one holding us to ransom. Surely it should have been the other way round. "Accept our offer or you won't be playing in the championship next season laddo."

Maybe it was the same situation as Hammill? He was going to sign for Leeds in League One unless we added that clause.

And Davies was going to stay here for some time because he needed to settle down somewhere, and had no intention of leaving......then he scores 4 on telly, gets an international call up, his agent probably flaunts him around, the manager who he signed for gets the big E and hey presto. Whatever you think of him from a football point of view it's yet another story of er,.......sorry, I meant I'm off like a shot in January you lot can get lost.

He signed a pre contract on 7th of June, as his contract was until the 30th

Defo did not sign in February and I have never read that anywhere

The don says Davies was a board signing not Hill. He said in the meeting the board recommended to Hill that we sign him
