Bizarre that Plunkett and Bresnan are so far down the order when the top five are all playing T20 like Championship cricket. Lose tomorrow and T20 is just about over for another year.

Team looks awful doesn't it. I don't think they are batting too low, just that they aren't good enough at the top and in the middle of the order. The balance of the team too, How many bowling options do they need? 7 apparently.

Hodd's a real problem, why does a wicket keeper bat at 9. That's embarrassing for Yorkshire. Okay we're spolt by Bairstow when he plays because he's so good but they need to look at this. Why's everyone elses oversea's over here it seems apart from ours. Why can't we have a standby that's not in the IPL.

Tomorrow the balance will more than likely be good because they have Bairstow and Root back.

Role on 2019 when we go to Franchise cricket, hopefully a 6 team tournament.

Quality that's spread far too fine.

Agreed Hemsie. That said we looked like a cohesive unit last year.

Okay these teams target this comp but goodness getting done but Worcestershire, Northants.......... Really

They underachieve in this comp over and over. They have a chance to dominate Domestic cricket. They need to win 2 of the 3 and it's possible but

top order are out of form in all forms of cricket. we need to find a way of scoring runs as all too often there is one player who plays a magic innings to get us out of trouble, last yeat it was Jonny leading the way. This year its been the lower middle order who have stuck around especially in CCC matches. As for T20 we look like we havent learnt how to attack yet and play the way of leading teams , too staid and too steadfast... give it a whack man!

can i just mention dear old hemsies comment ref franchise cricket.... NO NO NO NO NO. sky tv yet again ruining a game.

The thing will be it's not likely to be on Sky Pompey red unless the major free to air TV channels don't want it. Can they offer 5 our of 7 premium slots a week for say 4/6 weeks?

But it NEEDS to happen and quickly.

2019 the year of Franchise cricket and divisional Test rankings. Would be brilliant

You really believe the biggest change to domestic cricket in over 100 years wont be driven by sky and its millions of pounds?? seriously deluded if you think otherwise. and no to put it as plainly as can be it wouldnt be brilliant. it would be as far from brilliant as its possble to get. it would pander to the chattering classes who demand instant gratification without thought for history or traditions. you go and watch leeds play cricket at headingley. theres many who wont be joining you.

We either change or get left behind.

Get left behind WILL mean our players refuse to play Test cricket in years to come because they want to play IPL cricket

we were T20 world runners up 2 months ago. we arent getting left behind anyone. The IPL is a poor mans subsitute for test cricket and any player who chooses that over representing their country will quite rightly get laughed out of town.

Don't think he will be. Bairstow's nailed down the keeper spot.

Butler was told to go play in the IPL FFs !! and theres no chance of him getting back in unless they re jig the batting order and JB plays only as a batsman

Hope so. Those who have been given a go before like Lyth, Robson, Compton etc haven't had good seasons so I have no problem with Jos and Johnny both being in the test side. We already easily have the most exciting test team to watch. Most of them are capable of quick runs.

    Doesn't bother me

    not real cricket anyway.

I find it quite boring, just throwing the bat at every ball. Not much of a 50-over fan either but it's far far better than T20.

The British public seem to be turning into Americans, with the attention span of a fish.

Really?? Its great entertainment that's enthusing loads of youngsters, I like and appreciate test cricket but if you think they are just throwing the bat you aren't watching properly.
I also used to love playing it , played the full day stuff but always enjoyed playing in a 20 over game.
