And a young inexperienced head coach is it any surprise that between them they sign a load of young inexperienced players? Is the refusal to sign experienced players with large histories and the ability to command respect from the younger players a football decision or is it made out of fear that they will overtake themselves as leaders and father figures to the young squad?
If I was a young and experienced manager, or head of recruitment, I'd want to surround myself with experienced heads that could help me achieve my goals and to help fill in my own knowledge gaps. As we all know though, the recruitment policy comes from above. This has nothing to do with the sensitivities and insecurity of the manager.
When we signed 21 year old Josh scowen he had started the same amount of league games as treacy had. Hourihane had started considerably more.wabara has now started more games than treacy had. Lita had started just 26 league games in the three years leading up to our signing. There is a difference between age and experience and leadership qualities
Depends whether you mean the one who was announced as head or recruitment in the summer or the one lee Johnson called head of recruitment the other day. Actually no it doesn't depend in that because they're both young. Ben is in his 30s and the other guys name is Brian young
Do we have any "old fashioned" scouts working for us anymore? I think Eric Winstanley worked for Leeds when Redders was in charge, but not heard of anyone in that role for Barnsley for a long time.
If he didn't then we must have Lee Johnson AND a head coach because he said that he was having a meeting that would include PC, Ben mansford head of recruitment and lee johnson, head coach which can only be either "Ben mansford head of recruitment" = one person and job and "Lee Johnson, head coach" = one person or the alternative "Ben mansford, head of recruitment, Lee Johnson, head coach" = four people. To list four things and mean three people would be bizarre and completely unnatural. Imagine him in the dressing room telling the players who will making up a back four.. "So lads tomorrow I've decided who's playing. It'll be George, lewin nyatanga, number 26 and Reece Wabara the right back" That's what you think he's done. He's listed four people, one was given just a first name, the second a full name, the third just a job title and the fourth a name and a job title. That wouldn't make sense in antibodies world would it?
