When you look at it, our strike force is a shambles

Cureton, Odejayi, Rigters, Coulson, Mostto, Macken

There's only Macken out of all that lot thats been owt like affective
And yet all the rest of the team is sound
It seems Simon Davey is good at picking up players for all positions in the team except strikers
So its going to be very interesting to see what he comes up with in the January transfer window

strikers! seems to be the most important and most difficult part of the puzzle...

Hence the squillionquids which surround them.

Couldn't hit a barn door with a scuffler that lot

Made worse by our lack of goals from midfield

Neither Anderson nor Hassell are any cop at shooting as well

I wouldn't even say Macken has been effective, apart from tap ins his game is getting steadily worse, we need 2 strikers or a big man and Cureton to find the kind of form he was in 2 years ago.

Macken has scored goals consistently for us, well as consistent as we ever have up front. If he gets that one given on Sat then he has 7 for the season. If he can carry on then he might get 15, can't complain at that really. He is about 1 in 3 for us isn't he? Also think Hume would have been somewhere near 15 if he had played all season. Rest of em don't look like getting 10 between them though.

Macken and Cureton are more than capable. They are just not getting the service that is required for those types of players. Especially Cureton. He needs balls to run on to. Through balls. I'm sick of seeing the same old balls into the box, if any.

I don't think you can put Cureton under the class of 'shambles'...

199 career goals is far from shambolic.

If I were Pat Cryne................

............and Simon came a knocking at the door with another striker target
Before putting mi hand in mi pocket ageean I'd have a word with someone in the know to see if the striker in question is up to the mark

Obviously, there's a problem with this when SD goes a shop shop shopping in far away climes.......no chuffer has seen or knows owt abart the player he is talking abart (dunno)

You're right

put him in the mold of 'past it' instead.

That's a very poor argument

Everyone is different and the age when every footballer is still capable of producing the goods will be different.

I don't know if Cureton is past it or not, but the ability of John Hendrie at a similar age has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I think it does...

Both are strikers. Both are 33. Both played for Barnsley. Fair enough, lots of other factors come into play, but Cureton is not 'past it'.

33, past it. Haha. And this board was crying out for us to sign Dean Windass...

Jesus. Some people.

I did wonder how long it would take to get on Curetons back, the reason they are not scoring, is because the midfielders are not creating us any chances for them to score,
Cureton is certainly not past it yet he has atleast another 2 years in him, Coulson mentioned, i beleive that he has a lot of Potential to be a good striker, just ship him out onm loan for the rest of the season to get his fitness and confidence back up.
Rigters will coem good, beleive me...

He's not worthy of a place imo

No pace, no strength, can't hold the ball up. You can't keep picking someone just because they were good a few years ago.

He might not be a bad finisher, but I think Rigters or even Coulson or Odejayi would provide more of a threat at the moment.

Cureton might not be past it..

but he looked it on Saturday. After 20 minutes of good runs and looking a little dangerous, he was absolutely knackered for the next 55 until he was replaced.

What about Iain Hume?

He's gonna be a big loss and not easy to replace....

Doesn't SD get any credit for signing him?
