If there is a walk of life where I agree with UKIP that jobs for the English is better than jobs for Europe and the world just because they are English, it is in the English premier league. Surely even the greedy, useless, blazer wearing t**** at the FA must see that it is time to impose a quota of English players on premier league clubs. Nobody is calling for Hodgson's head, because we all know the state of talent poverty that he's working with and given that situation he certainly hasn't over performed, but he's achieved par for the course.

The men who should be sacked are the ones with their snout in the trough with no football background, or experience, more interested in filling their own coffers than ensuring that English football is successful. More English footballers in the premier league may not be the complete answer, but a quota of 5 per match would be a start.

It's been widely acknowledged that foreign players have brought many positives to our game and I agree. The problem is that mediocre foreign players cost less than mediocre Home -grown players. This is not a Political issue as such it,s how our game is run from the very top.

Difference is foreign workers tend to work harder than the English equivalent who expect everything handed on a plate.

Or foreign workers are more easily exploited, and used to drive wages down & have poor terms and conditions.

You can't impose a quota on players from the EEC - that's why Gareth Bale is at Real Madrid and Dale Jennings went over to join Bayern. It's those from the Americas, the Far East, the Middle East, Africa and Russia we can keep out but players from these nations are earning a living elsewhere in Europe with no detriment to the national teams in the nations where they've emigrated to.

Ironic that you should mention UKIP because if the FA did impose a quota then it would be EU laws that would make that quota illegal.

You're not allowed to favour UK workers for jobs or benefits.

I would support a move to ensure that at least five english players are in every Premier League side. Don't know legally if that could be done tho'.

Yeah, I don't think it's legally enforceable. Pity, as I think it would pressure on the top clubs to give young English players game time. You only have to look at Sturridge as an example of a player who has vastly proved simply by getting regular games.

What excuse did we have when we didn't qualify in 74 and 78?
