I'm not gonna say we're gonna get promoted to the Premier League or anything like that as without any changes to level the playing field in terms of finance there are some pretty big clubs who will struggle never mind a team like Barnsley.

But I do think the future is bright, I'm amazed by the number of young 'ens who have bought into the club and if that continues our crowds should steadily increase over the coming years as long as we can stay in the Championship and avoid an annual relegation fight.

    What d'ya reckon?

I reckon 10 years is far too long in football now to make predictions. But, without serious investment or a few more John Stones scenarios we could find ourselves seriously lagging behind most championship clubs, those with investment and those fortunate enough to make it to the premier league.

We are doing really well at the minute but already have those clubs with more financial clout sniffing round our players. These clubs are able to accumulate players with no real intention of making them first team players, bit like the Man City's and Chelsea's of the world....sickening really.

Are we always going to be able to find another Hourihane or Roberts? I don't know, lets hope so.

Where we are or league 1, if we cant keep a good team together for a sustained period and build we will never get to prem. We can never pay the wages they could receive elsewhere. We have a team in the making now I could see this team get better and better with a few added quality additions, I believe this team could make the championship playoffs within 2 or3 seasons and win it. This team now is growing we haven't had a team like this for a long time. But unfortunately with winnall and hourihane looking for pastures new it won't happen, personally I believe them 2 are at there at there fixed club and could make us grow, but they don't see us as what I've just said. Come January they will be gone and then inturn we start all over again, just hope it's not going to be painful for our club in what we have built in the last 12 months.

Why would they be gone in January? Nobody is going to come in with a bid we can't refuse when they can get them on a free in the summer.

If the pair haven't gone old pal in January I do believe it'll be end of season. I would love Conner and Sammy to sign up again as I believe that would fire up the fans and team again and it would be interesting to see how far we could go in a couple of years. If the club could higher the wage structure a little bit and convince them we are serious of a championship assault in the coming years then we would only attract better calibre players. Is up to the club if they want to be serious about a return to the premiership or continue hanging around the championship and eventually lose are better players which we will then start to fight relegation. We have to strive now while we have a winning habit.

Hmm 10 years is a very long time. So Jedstar where exactly do you think league football will be?

My opinion is that the major teams in europe will break away with sky and other tv channels, form their own league and to hell with the rest.

Barnsley will be left floundering with the rest of the also rans.

    Unfortunately money talks.

Unfortunately the Cryne Plan means this is going to happen time after time, its not about progressing the club/team,its about helping young up and coming players move on and progress THEIR careers and bank balances.

With the concentration of money in certain hands a European Super a League will come and not be particularly successful. We won't be in it...

I'd say kicking round the Top of League 1 or bottom of the Championship but still in business unlike a couple of big clubs that will fail

I would love for this to happen. Let them go. Maybe a league structure with less money in it would be better one to watch.

With Trump and Putin running the world, I'll just be happy if Oakwell and the rest of Europe is still here.

    Happy Xmas...

We will be somewhere around the championship or league 1.
Been relegated and promoted in that time
Hemsie will be bigging up a lad who just been born this week
Nudger will still be posting clap trap
Ben mansford will be FA chairman
Don rowing will still be getting the blame for everything
The ratio of greggs and charity shops will be split 50/50 in the town centre
Sheffield Wednesday will obviously (in their own fans eyes) be bigger than Barcelona... Whilst still playing in the championship
Sheffield United fans will still generally be lovely person*s

It depends on how all these foreign owners play it out in the Championship. In my opinion, in 10 years time quite a few will have thrown the towel in leaving their clubs in the ****, giving opportunities for us to take their league positions. However, at the minute the appetite is still there and every 'big' club that is put up for sale (Birmingham, Forest etc) seem to have a buyer waiting so we can't compete over the long term whilst so many clubs are throwing money at it.
