Genuine question, for me it looked like Thomas Cwyka was playing on left wing and covering at left back while Kennedy was all over the place.
Sorry but I heard a few having ago at Kennedy yesterday saying the same and it's BS. If there winger goes inside then Kennedy will follow. Defending in a 4 you will have to defend quite tight anyway and that will just about cover the 18 yard box. If there full back charges forward then the wingers got to follow is man. That's is man to mark not the full backs.
He was MIA on more than a few occasions. At times he was doing nothing defensively while cywka covered the full back area. Kennedy doesn't know how to defend, and you can't tell me otherwise, been watching the game to long, I know what I see.
Following that logicthen all their winger needs to do to weaken our defence is to **** off back for a chat to his keeper
It's modern football apparently, all like robots following direct orders to do a certain task, no room for thinking on your feet, or maybe there is but this particular player hasn't the nous to work it out.
Go on then, I'll risk a kicking. I feel a bit for the Lad. He works hard and (importantly) never hides when things aren't going well for him. Sadly, that's too often. Having seen him for over a season, I'd say he's one of many who are not able to produce consistently good performances at the level required for this division. It's the Managers judgement about players but I fear that he's going to be vying with Perkins for the title of new 'whipping boy' if things are allowed to continue.
Never hides? That was the one thing that wound me up more than anything yesterday. He completely lost his bottle. He didn't want the ball, though he had more space than any other player to take it from Steele. In the last 20 minutes I watched him turn his back on Steele countless times. He turned away, and tucked inside so he looked marked. End result Steele had no option but to kick long, and it kept coming back. That in my book is inexcusable. He was the player who could have given us an outlet, but he shirked the responsibility. I don't like to berate individuals, I don't like "witch hunts" but in my opinion he has been selected for months when he has not been doing his job. He should be dropped for the sake of the team, and the atmosphere around the place, because the fans have lost faith, and so it seems, has he.
We don't have a good defender, except Bobby who has modified his game now so we can't count him as back 4. I'm not about to hammer any of them individually, possibly one or two could hold their own in a good defence and raise their game to match. But as a unit they are crap and it's unfair to single out any one player - Cranie is no better presently and is as responsible as anyone else in the team for our current form. He's certainly not a captain and has a record of struggling in the championship with a relegation to his name. They simply are not good enough. I could say the same about our midfield and strikers too.
Defenders do the defending, that's what they train to do, they don't back off an attacker and watch their own winger (an attacker) chase back 50/60 yards to try and get a block in as he watched O'Brien do against Derby.
No I didn't. I included the one who never gets mentioned when the blame is being dished out. Just redressing parity.
Sorry but you attack as a team and defend as a team. It's all about the TEAM effort. This is isn't american Football this is Proper football and I will say it again. TEAM. If a full back goes forward then the wingers got to track him.
You singled out Martin Cranie for criticism after claiming it would be unfair to single out any individual. It's down in black and white. Your answer suggests you'd make an excellent politician.
well the sooner things get back to proper basics the better. attackers attack, defenders defend. Who was the last central defender to end up his team's leading goalscorer.
