I can't help but wonder why Danny didn't try to loosely build a similar squad as to the one that got us promotion back in the day. By that I'm meaning a solid squad built up of experienced senior pros ( not all are journey man wanting a last pay day ) with the right mix of youth & up and coming young players. The spine of the team this season has been weak to say at best. 1996 Team - Watson Moses Appleby Bullock Eaden, Liddell etc classed as youth I suppose with the likes of Neil Thompson slow but experienced calming effect, Wilko and Hendry up top , Redders and Shez in midfield , De Zeeuw in back 4 / 5. I just think this season he's relied too much on inexperience and young kids that didn't stand a chance whatever formation or selection he used. Instead of having 38 players on our books I would much rather see a trimmed down squad of 20. That way we can afford to pay a bit more in wages to attract a more experienced player as well as a mix of youth! As for the next manager I;m past caring at this moment I can't be assed thinking about it!
Listen to Mansford and you will hear why - the plan calls for us to use younger players who will become saleable assets to support the running of the club
Because we wanted to build for the future and use youth. modern football also, not this zero pace sh!te
But virtually all of the younger players are from other clubs so what kind of plan is that ? So are they hoping such as Mason Holgate plays 30 games and then sell him for a million ? Can't run a football club on that basis! End of the day Ben Mansford is using Barnsley as a stepping stone just as players do and I don't think he'll be hanging around much more than a couple of years trust me!
Personally I usually start to fear for a manager when they give post match press conferences and say the same stuff re reasons for losing and then go on to describe a game totally different to the one the fans have just seen. Its usually a sign that the writing is on the wall
Re: Personally I usually start to fear for a manager best game ive seen this season was against Bristol city and half an hour against notts county - rest has been pathetic chopping and changing.
Re: Personally I usually start to fear for a manager Watson - Turnbull Eaden - Holgate Crainie - De Zeeuw Shirtliff - Ramage Thomson - Nyatanga Moses - Bree Redfearn - Hourihane Sheriden - Berry Bosnancic - Bailey Bullock - Williams Marcelle - Jeninings Hendrie - Winall Wilkinson - Lita If truth be told he wasnt that far off from his class of 96. obviously this years vintage hasn't borne fruit yet!
Re: Personally I usually start to fear for a manager De Zeeuw and Ramage in the middle of the back four. We can only dream.
Re: Personally I usually start to fear for a manager I was anti sacking Danny, but when you look at the 2 teams in comparison we are way way short of that promotion team. I might swap Holgate for Eaden ...
Re: Personally I usually start to fear for a manager maybe in 3 years with continued development of the younger lot and one or two additions we wouldnt be that far off though, thats of course if we havent sold all the younger lot by then!
Bree, Holgate, Smith, Jennings, Bailey, Berry, Hourihane, Lalkavic, Scowen, Hemmings, Winnall, Digby. All 25 or under.
Holgate, Williams & Bree will properly go higher. Winnall may make Championship Think Hourihane, Bailey, Berry are at their level. The rest may have or be hanging up their boots in 3 years. Hopefully Ramage may stay on in coaching role? I think 3 years IS too long to look as a football club. Should be 2. Very few players get 3 year contracts these days, apart from the young promising ones.
