Usually visit my parents beofre a game but they are going away on Saturday - so I'll probably watch the match in town. Not been out in town for years and was wondering where's best to watch a match</p>
The ONLY place I would say really . . . but it will be full of them plastic Barstewards with their Liverpool and Man U shirts on all pretending to be passionate about a team they picked at random. Cvnts.
That happens everywhere unfortunatley Only know one real Utd fan - all the others were born in the far reaches of the UK
Aye, I know. Many of my mates are Man U and Liverpool fans. Some of them are ok and even go and watch Barnsley from time to time. Some are pr1cks and take the piss out of Barnsley. The worst is a lad who was a Barnsley supporter and had a season ticket up to 2 years ago, then decided he was bored so got a season ticket at Man U, he now slates Barnsley. Complete wank3r. I hate it when Walkabouts full of these tw@ts watching football then they all go home after, even though there is a live match just up the road . . .
Then again, there are some real gems I know a few who are not born in Barnsley but are Reds thru & thru. From Scotland, from the North East, from Lancashire, from London.... I guess it's a matter of what gets under your skin at the critical time.
Fair play to them, least they aren't glory hunters. Saying that, I would guess that the majority of them have some roots in the town. Otherwise they need their heads checking! The people I'm talking about though have picked the big clubs out at random because they win things. They are everything thats wrong with football. Go in Walkabout at 12:30 on Saturday. You'll see what I mean . . .
Lots of new staff in there, but as you're not a regular you don't have to bother with getting used to newbies. Walkabout is a great place to watch sport and have a drink.
You could try The Mount on Ponty Road - usually plenty in there watching the game and you could watch the whole game and get to Oakwell for kickoff.
RE: Cheers might pass on the burger though! Bet it tastes like chicken! To be fair (from memory, not been in for a while), the food is reasonable (well compared to buying a pie at Oakwell!) . Nothing fancy, everything with chips, but service always been pretty quick when I've been in. Usual stuff - Burger & Chips, Chicken wraps/ dips etc etc.
