I'm sure 15/20 year ago Liverpools pen would have be obstruction and a indirect freekick. Apart from a offside when was the last indirect freekick you saw???
The only indirect free kicks as far as I know are 1 Offside 2 Goalkeeper picking up a back-pass I saw one of the latter on TV recently (can't remember the game).
Got done away with for fouls in box years ago. Used to enjoy the melee in the 6yd box with 11 men on the line.
When was the last time they awarded a free kick for obstruction?....never happens these days, annoys me at just about every game!
We had an indirect earlier this season It was a home game, not sure who against. Didn't Butterfield lay it off to Drinkwater, who hit the crossbar? It was given for a pass back btw.
Re: The penalty was given for handball wasn't it? WAs just thinking same. It was given for handball. (Very Harsh!!) But definatly couldn't be an indirect free kick........
