I am sure this question has been asked many times, but allow me to ask again. My company is upgrading to 4g on the EE network as is offering us all a choice of new phones which are:

    Iphone 5
    Samsung S4
    Nokia Lumia 820
    Backberry Z10

Any views on which one from people who have knowledge of any or all of them?
    Current phone is Samsung S3.
    My default view is that

    (a) I have never been an Apple fan and think the Iphone is too locked down and behind the door - but have never had one so am basing that on no personal experience and a bit of an illogical anti-apple bias.
    (b) I like the Windows interface on the Nokia, and am tempted.
    (c) I like my current S3

    Thanks

If you like your S3, i'd say go for the S4 which is pretty much what you have now but with more power i believe and some upgraded and new features. I've never used the new version of Windows mobile although i did have a phone with the old version on and it was pretty awful although like i said, it's probably not representitive of the new version of windows mobile.

Shame you can't have the HTC One, but if I were you I'd go with the S4. Better the devil you know.

First things first - stay away from Blackberry. Bago****. Pound for pound standalone, Samsung is probably the best handset. If you have any other Apple devices - or thinking about getting any - definitely get an iPhone. The integration between Apple devices is just getting better and better. I don't think windows offers enough to choose it over either.

Oh, and you can jailbreak iPhone. 5 minute job

What Tomfun says about Blackberry devices. I've got on as my company phone and it's a right bag of crap. Avoid them at all costs or you'll regret it.

IPhones are dull, they were the best 3-4 years ago but its just a name.

Android for me has overtook the iPhone lately. The S2 was the breakthrough to challange iPhone and since then smartphones have kicked on while iPhone's have not really.

Actually in the interests of fairness I should say that I have a Blackberry Curve so my opinion is based on that particular model. I can't comment on the Z10.

I've heard that iphone are bringing out a new software update in the autumn called IOS7 that will radically change the appearances and add loads and loads of new function to all iPhones from Iphone 4 upwards. They are also catching up with the android market with a free music streaming service call Iphone Radio.

The Mrs has just got a Lumia 720 and loves it. I could almost wish I'd gone for a Windows phone when I renewed and probably will next time.

I've seen iOS7. Looks good but still prefer Android. Galaxy S4 a big let down, though.

Thanks for the responses everyone - very helpful. Had a look at the top 20 phones on Techradar as well to make sure - and the 820 is not even on the list - think I am gonna go for what I know and request an S4.

Like some said, pity the HTC One is not on the list though.

My brothers got the S4, he loves it. My girlfriends got the S3, she loves it. I've got a Lumia 800, and while its a good phone, its nowhere near as well equipped as the S4 for the same cost really. And the windows app store is pathetic. After reading the reviews of the S4, iPhone 5 and Lumia, my brother found himself choosing between the Nokia and Samsung, purely because there wasn't anything he needed from the iPhone as he owns an iPad and iPod touch.
The three of ys have all owned a Blackberry, (curve 8200) none of us particularly liked it. Hope this helps

Cracking - thanks Archey. Pretty much reinforces the decision I've come to. While the windows interface looks nice, the S4 appears to trump the Nokia on so many other features that I would be getting the Nokia just for the interface. That would be silly really.

If the company had been offering the Nokia 920 instead of the 820 then it may have been a closer call.

Best phone I ever had for making phone calls and texting was a Blackberry, pretty rubbish for t'internet though and the apps were a joke, I do miss it in a weird way though.

Stay away from all HTC. They are the gashest company in the world. Unfortunately, I can only get HTC's from work.

Its getting to the point that I would rather not have one and use a pigeon instead.
