The pub by the bus station

used to be The Beer Engine. Forgot it's new name.

Been refurbished, new landlord rules with a rod of iron. Family friendly, he'll stand no shennagians and no mistake.

5 mins walk from ground as well.

    RE: Benders pub!

Well, funny story my little west highland goldsby-west terrier.....

We came over to tarn to watch England v Wales world cup qualifier in Walkabout and meet a few mates. I brought a couple of mates from Hudds.

One of them is a bit "fashion-concious". This particular England match day in Barnsley town centre he had a pink jumper on and was carrying a sort of gay European "man-bag".

He got away with it all afternoon until entering the Gatehouse for a swifty before the train home.

The landlord said "you two look ok but what are you doing knocking about with him wi pink cardi and handbag - is he oreight or what?"

Brilliant - made me day - loads of pillock on the train home.

So, I don't think it's a benders pub after all.

    RE: The Gatehouse

that's the one ES, been in a couple of times now. Seems to achieved the impossible - a decent boozer next to a bus station (every town/city has **** boozers adjacent the peasant waggon terminal)
