I'll be first in the queue for a season ticket. He has repaired the damage done by a number of previous managers and reunited the fans with the club, the atmosphere at oakwell is brilliant, he's got the players putting 100% effort in every game and made me for one, proud to be a Barnsley fan.
The first thing is, there is now little doubt which league we'll be in next season. The remaining games would be very tough even with a full strength squad and no injuries/suspensions. The body language of the players at the end last night was that of a team that knows they're relegated. Second up, we will receive renewal forms with a deadline which will no doubt be fixed before David Flitcroft's future has been decided, and before contract talks have been concluded with our better players. So in other words, renewing before the deadline will require a leap of faith. The way this club has been run these last two seasons, can anyone in their right mind say that they could place any faith in the Board? To my mind, they are responsible for the position we are in. Instead of allowing Robins to build, they imposed ridiculous financial strictures which led him to believe he could not effectively plan for the future, so he walked. So we then bring on the circus act that is Keith Hill. Luckily staying up due to Portsmouth's woes last season, we continue to sell, sell, sell, and only when it is too late do they realise their folly and part with wrecking ball's services. We luckily uncovered a diamond amongst the coal in David Flitcroft, but the reality was always going to be that he was left with too much to do. We even commenced Flicker's reign by depriving him of our greatest asset (Stones). The 3M we received may look a poor return if it is true we are going to drop 6M by being relegated. OK, JOhn couldn't have rescued us single-handed, but can you honestly say his continuing contribution wouldn't have made some difference (and we are talking margins at the end of the season)? So the jury's out for me as regards next season, but from where I'm standing now, it seems to me it will be a long way back.
on matter who's manager ill be renewing and going to every game home and away, for the first time in 5 years im really really looking forward to the new season, i really really think we can compete at the top end of the league, instead of struggling to compete with teams that are too good for us,
Think i'm in the same boat. Wherever we are if Flicker stays and a few key players do, I'll be getting a season ticket.
Amen to that. I still think we'll survive but I am making my peace with the thought of being in league one provided Flicker and his team are retained.
Can't see that being an issue. IF we go down it would be reasonable to assume that season ticket holders will be fewer next season. Most will stay in their existing seats and you might be unlucky if someone fancies moving in to your seat. I'll get my season ticket the day before the first game of the season and only if I see the Board are backing the manager (hopefully Flitcroft) and not embarking on another round of cutting the cloth. Hold your nerve.
If the club have any sense they will sit down and get him signed up now, whatever the cost. It doesn't matter which division a managers contract wouldn't have the same knock on effect on other contracts in the same way that players ones do.
I think Flicker wants to be here too. We all want him regardless of where we are next year, I think that says something about him and about what he's done for our club. On the final day of the season, regargless of where we are, Don should offer a contract to him IMO.
ho are and as for all this being first in Que, my season ticket for next season has been paid for since January 12th
