Last week I rang a few agencies in Barnsley to start a few apprentices

They Advised the minimum wage would be 2.73 per hour

Our company policy is we don't pay anyone under the national living wage which in the North is £7.85 per hour

I then asked for the agency to send some cvs through

    Every one was a foreigner

Which before anyone starts we have many different nationalities working at our place but I couldn't work out why no English applying

Turns out after further discussions they only deal with employment for non British citizens

I didn't agree with this policy and brought the conversations to an end

Can you imagine an agency only taking in English people , it wouldn't happen

I will probably get called a racist for this but what's your opinion on this

    Agree or disagree

Agree. I don't see the point in agencies that deal with certain nationalities. I wouldn't deal with them.

I seriously think that your company should send you on some HR training. My comment is not meant to be a slur, but I feel that given your recent posts, you are somewhat naive regarding employment issues.

You could argue that they are therefore discriminating and hence I think your right. Do you still apply the wage policy on apprentices? Some companies have an apprentice rate.

    I would agree

Very new to me as you can see

These emails come through to me and trained personnel deal with them

    I just wanted people's opinion

The difference is that our eastern european cousins will come and graft. And graft. Amd graft. Whereas it seems a fair amount of our english brothers expect a good wage for doing nowt.

They do graft but you also have to think how much of their living wage is being spent by them in this country. Ill bet the majority is sent back home for their families to live like kings in their own country. So really they aren't putting much back into the system like a British worker would.

I can see the need for a foreign only agency just like I can for a female only agency however their need/use is for very specific niche jobs where their nationality is a clear benefit and in your situation it clearly isnt

'thereev incorporated' would in theory only set on hard working foreigners ....they are cheaper and work a lot hard than the 'British' feckless clowns stood outside the signing on establishment in town.

    if only 'thereev incorporated' existed!

Would you object to an agency which only acts on behalf of disabled workers?

    No I wouldn't

But helping someone find a job who may not be able to see/ walk etc a little but different than just someone's nationality

    Just my opinion

You obviously think differently which I completely understand
