that Luke Steele kept us in the FA Cup and has been a good/great player whilst with us. Would anyone like to see the club start a slide back to administration, just to keep him 'because he kept us in the Cup'? I don't think anyone would and there's no point letting sentimentality override the BFC business plan. If the deal doesn't work for the club, then goodbye and good luck Luke. The vast majority of players would take off to another club for more money and loyalty doesn't come into the decision, so there should be no reason for getting your knickers in a twist because a club decides to put 'loyalty' aside for a deal which is right for them. Even if we did sign him, we would still have the possibility of playing West Brom in the final and he couldn't play anyway, so we'd have to get another keeper in. So, get a Premiership keeper in NOW, for the remainder of the season. We can take our pick, as they would all love a run out at Wembley, and no issues with parent club intervention for the final.
If I remember right.... ... did'nt we have a similar thing with Higgy? Was'nt he on above average wages?
I'm a little lost here, I wonder if you can help me How come signing a proven keeper on a free transfer who has already helped the club earn well over £1 million in gate receipts, prize money and TV fees will send us into administration because his wages for a year will set us back £400,000, but signing unproven Peruvians for £400,000 plus wages is perfectly acceptable. As is spending £300,000 plus wages on Danes who never get a game. I just don't get it.
How so? We already spent the money on Mostto, Christensen etc. We have to deal with the here and now. Steele may want a deal for 3 years for all we know. We may be in league 1 next year (more Jay's fear than mine) If we sign him he still cannot play in a final if we make it along with WBA. There's still time for negotiations to work out a deal in any case.
