Okay, let's have a thread where the "i'd rather have had three points against Burnley" brigade can actually get excited about the fact that we're in the FA Cup semi-final for the first time in 96 years, rather than the "staying up is more important" party line that they keep spouting. Does anybody who keeps saying this not think that we all want us to stay up? Does nailing your flag to the mast and saying "I want us to win the Cup" make you less of a "true" fan if you don't follow it with "but I'd rather have three points at Watford"? For God's sake, we're in the FA Cup semi-final...at Wembley...against a team that we could beat, with a potential final against one of two teams that we could beat, having beaten two Champions League quarter-finalists along the way. YES, we would all love to be safe from the threat of relegation, but let's not make being excited about Sunday's game a crime. If you aren't bothered then remind us if we do get to the final, so we know where to come to for spare tickets, with you all not wanting to go and that. So let's have an amnesty. We know you all really care about us staying up, we all do, but just for the next few days show that you're actually excited about Sunday's game. We can start worrying about the league again on Monday. By which time we'll hopefully have a Cup Final to look forward to.
well said, 96years,96 years, it's one hell of a long time for waiting for a special moment in our history. Well worth the wait, don't you agree?
i agree, except one thing we're in the semi final, not the final. one match further than the quarter finals, thats all. just because the FA moved the match to wembley for money doesn't make the game any bigger or any smaller
If we go down... ... it will be my fault.
I said to myself I could handle getting relegated if we went to Wembley.
I hold my hands up to making a similar deal with the devil the last time we wnet to Wembely. I said I'd rather go to Wembley and lose than get automatic promotion, because they were going to knock it down and I couldn't face never having seen Barnsley play at (the old) Wembley. OK I admit to being bonkers, but we'd never been and my dad was on his last legs - he died 6 months later.
I'm now left with a slightly guilty feeling ...
Mind you, call me stupid if you like but I'll remember Sunday for longer than I'll remember any relegation season. Win or lose, when I lie on my death bed breathing my last I can tell you now,one of the things that will bring a smile to my face is this seasons cup run and Sunday's trip to Wembley.
