Has anyone ever claimed for whiplash before. Got rear ended yesterday for the 3rd time in 2 years. Never claimed before and my neck is killing again. Think its about time I had some compensation. Who did people use? how easy was it to claim?
Isn't personal injury covered during the insurance claim against the driver who rear ended you? You'll need medical evidence to support it, get to your G.P.
I found that after I'd informed my insurance it took about 5 minutes for someone to get in touch, and it was very easy to claim.
I thought whiplash was a fantasy injury till it happened to me,we got rear ended when stuck in a traffic jam on Sheffield Parkway, the car wasn't damaged much just a little dent in the rear bumper,my elderly passengers were fine so I didn't pursue it,later on the same day I developed a wicked headache that lasted for about 6 hours...so I know it does exist,I would say though I'm not a great believer in the claims culture and as it didn't cost me any time off work and no apparent lasting injuries I just(and would do again)let it go,counting my blessings that no-one was really hurt.
My mate claimed from his insurance. They in turn use loss adjusters to claim for personal injuries from his or her insurance. Go to doctors and tell him your neck is killing you. Thirs gets you registered as being injured. My xmate got £10000 and that was equivalent to about £40000 today's value
I appreciate and applaud you for not claiming twice before - and also it is early days with this particular neck ache so there's no telling how it might develop. Personally I've never suffered from whiplash so have no appreciation of how much it may hurt and inconvenience you - however - genuine question - how much do you believe your pain and suffering is worth ?
Thats really what ran through my mind..just glad nobody was really hurt..and to be fair I've had much more painful, longer lasting sports injuries
The mate Imentioned started having pain a few weeks afterwards. His arm then started to go numb. On being checked out he was told the whiplash had cracked vertebrae in his neck. He had to have an operation at Sheffield, and if not he would have been paralysed down side of his body
Unfortunately by having said that on a public forum I wouldn't risk making a claim! Also, Any injury may have been initiated by one of the first two shunts. Presumably you didn't go to the doctor then? The insurance company is bound to have a record of these accidents if you claimed at all for damage to the car. P.S. This post is no way influenced by the fact that whiplash claims account for 40% of the cost of my insurance!!
