WTF is it all about ? Over in Lancashire yesterday, today and 2moro is all about whit weekend. How come we don't tend to celibrate it in Yorkshire ? It's a beer festival, bands, games etc. Today for example is a pub crawl. You dress up in fancy dress to earn a token which means a free pint at any pub in Oldham you want.

    Whitsuntide

..or Whit for short, is a proper festival, which drops exactly 7 weeks after Easter.

The Labour Government changed it in 1968 to Spring Bank holiday, which always falls the last weekend of May.

Lots of people still celebrate Whit - and so they bloody well should!

    Pentecost

Its the celebration of after Christ had ascended to heaven and the Holy Spirit descended down to the Apostles. The Book of Acts Chapter 2 gives all the details.
